"FUUUCK!!" Carter Clove screamed after realizing he had lost track of the truck that had taken his sister Natalie after his confrontation with the wave. He hurriedly ran back, leaping from building to building to where he had last seen the truck his sister was in. He found nothing that could point him to where they had taken her.
Carter sat in the road where he last saw his sister, just sitting there, wondering whether or not he would ever see her again.
"WOOO!! WOOO!! WOOO!!"
Carter turned around to see where this obnoxiously loud siren was coming from; he saw a police van speeding down the road, going straight for him. Carter jumped out of the way, out of habit from when he was still alive.
Carter Clove decided to chase after the police van, if only to see who it was that had almost hit him. After a few minutes, he caught up with the speeding van down at the gas station where Carter had first awoke.
He went into the gas station and saw a policewoman talking to the same receptionist he had first gotten angry at when he didn't know he couldn't be seen. He overheard the policewoman asking about Carter and inquiring about what had led up to his death.
Carter sat there wondering if they were going to say anything that he would want to know, when he found out that the policewoman planned on following the case of Carter Clove off the books, even though her boss Clyde Artwin had specifically told her that she couldn't, for their police department couldn't withstand the consequences of disobeying the orders the mysterious suited figures had given them.
This made Carter wonder who exactly the mysterious suited figures who took his sister were. He had already assumed they were government affiliated, but he had no idea they could have the power to shut down an entire police department just for following a case. Then he started thinking about why exactly they didn't want anyone to follow up on his case, when he had the idea that they might know the circumstances of his death, which left him with the question of how.
While lost in thought, Carter hadn't noticed the policewoman leaving until the distinct "di-ding!!" sound of the automatic sliding glass doors of the gas station immediately snapped him out of it.
Carter hurriedly followed the policewoman out to her car and got in the seat beside her, listening to her talk to herself about the mysterious circumstances of Carter Clove's death and whether it was related to the mysterious suited figures taking his sister Natalie Clove away.
"Bzzt. Stolen car inbound on highway nine. Ezzt"
Immediately after hearing this, the policewoman floored the gas pedal, going at an incredibly high speed, throwing Carter straight out of the car and landing on his ass. "WHAT STUPID ASS RULE MAKES ME ABLE TO SIT IN A SEAT IN A CAR BUT GO THROUGH EVERY OTHER PART OF IT?!" Carter yelled out at the top of his lungs.
Carter, now knowing that he would always have to run to get places and could no longer rely on motorized vehicles or any type of mobile transport, was extremely upset, for running everywhere was extremely mentally exhausting for him who could not sleep his exhaustion away like before.
This story follows Carter Clove, who was killed by a being beyond the veil that was both able to interact with the physical plane, and across the veil, an exceedingly rare ability only possessed by very few across the veil.
And how after Carter died, he was sent across the veil, instead of going to the human afterlife. Now Carter is on a journey to once again be part of the physical plane, and reunite with his sister.
