JOHANN ENTERS THE PRIVATE HOSPITAL ROOM OF HIS MOTHER.
His mother was opening her eyes. The last thing she remembered was looking at her son as she lost consciousness.
Is this my end? Will I die not knowing if my son can become an adult?
In her blurred vision, she saw something odd about his expression as he stood near the door before he worriedly approached her.
“Mom! You’re awake. You’re awake!”
What happened? Where are his amulets?
“A-are you okay?” Selena asked as she touched his son on his cheek.
“I’m okay. I swear… I’m okay. You no longer need to worry.”
The door suddenly opens from behind Johann. He flinched knowing who could have arrived in their hospital room. It was a tanned girl who looked like his older sister.
“You… where were you when your mother had an accident?” Luz yelled as she approached Johann.
He only told her they had an accident and which hospital they were in. It was expected for her to come and check on them but Johann was still unprepared how to explain to Luz what really happened.
Johann sensed her anger and worry at the same time. But his instinct told him that anger is the stronger emotion she has as of the moment. She intends to interrogate him about the accident. She was about to grab his shoulder to probably pick a fight when Cassian took over.
“You dare lay a hand on me, human?” Cassian angrily yelled.
Luz was stunned. Cassian grabbed her hand first and bent it backward making Luz fall in her knees
“You… how did you—”
“Johann!” His mother yelled before he slapped him. “What did you do?!!”
It was Cassian who felt the action of his mother while Johann was like a silent observer within his body.
“What the hell is wrong with you, human?!” Cassian reacted as he touched his swollen left cheek.
He also fell on the tiled floor.
“You’re asking me…” the patient groggily asked after she came down from her hospital bed and Luz was making sure she could balance herself. “You’re really asking what was wrong with me?!”
She was furious. Cassian seemed surprised to see her demonic expression. He thought she would be too weak to notice his presence. But anger can make people do stupid things, don’t they? This woman may no longer care for her injuries now that she sees something she was preventing from happening since they met.
“Get out of my son’s body right now!” Selena demanded.
The two women look at Cassian as he stands and speaks.
“Your son did this to himself. He used a spell that would let me reside in his body. But that is not what we agreed on.” Cassian smiled and looked directly at Mother. “You know I have the right to claim this body and use it however I please. So you have no right to command me.”
Selena was so angry she would fight with the Death Dealer if she could. She was not threatened by Cassian. But at that moment it was clear what must be done.
“Is that so?” she asked.
Her primary concern is to separate the two. And she needed to act fast. Her injuries won’t let her move so easily so she will have Luz apprehend him for her.
“Luz, apprehend him this instant,” Selena said. But even before Selena finished stating her command Luz already prepared herself for a fight. Luz positioned herself as if she’ll run a marathon. She bent her knees while aiming towards the enemy.
“Yes, Ma’am.”
Luz in full battle mode attacks Cassian with more determination. Luz runs faster than most humans but she has no powers like Selena or Cassian. Her strength relies more on her training and focus.
Cassian prepares to block but Luz does a combination of punches to break his defense. Luz made Jab-Cross-Left uppercut-Cross punches. Her last punch breaks the defense of Cassian.
Her attacks are strong and precise. Is she an ordinary human?
Cassian could not help but wonder about his opponent.
She is human. But you can’t beat her that easily, Johann responded proudly while his soul was safe within his body while Cassian fought.
What? Are you belittling me? I may be inside your body but my powers are still the same—
Luz punches Cassian in the face. He was distracted for a moment while talking to the brat. Cassian was dizzy. The punches have its effect on Johann’s body and Cassian is feeling it all. A bruise can also be seen on his face.
You were saying? The boy asked the Death Dealer as if daring Cassian to prove what he just said.
Who is this girl? Cassian asked while looking at Luz.
Her name is Luzviminda. She’s our maid, personal assistant, driver, cook, bodyguard, and sometimes my babysitter, Johann responded with a matter of fact tone.
Cassian argues with Johann within him.
“She is technically your minion and yet she is allowed to punch your body like this?!”
We’re both trained by my mother. But she’s a better fighter than I am, Johann admitted.
“You have no shame,” Cassian kept on insulting Johann. “How can you easily admit that you’re a weakling?”
Those are just facts, Johann replied unaffected with the insults.
Cassian smiled because he came up with a plan.
“Fine! I will kill her then,” Cassian said casually.
No, you won’t. The spell only allows you to come out to protect me. If I sense that you become the threat itself then we’ll automatically switch. Capiche?
“You brat. I will definitely put a curse on you!” Cassian yelled. “I will make sure you will suffer for the rest of your pathetic life! Do you hear?!”
From the outsider’s point of view Cassian only looks like he was arguing with himself. Luzviminda took that chance to strike again. This time making sure Cassian will lose consciousness. Cassian was again caught off guard.
Luzviminda carries the unconscious body of Johann on one shoulder while Selena discharges herself from the hospital. She is smiling while talking to a random doctor.
“Err… Ma’am are you sure you’re okay?” the doctor asked. Then in a smaller voice he looked at the boy being carried. “Is your son okay?”
“Yes, doctor. We’ll go ahead. Thank you for taking care of me.”
