Chapter 7
Samuel woke up in the morning, and felt as powerful as ever. He looked around to see Jackson, Eric, and Charles getting ready for the day.
“How long?” Samuel said,
Jackson smiled, “About 2 extra hours”
Samuel got up and started getting ready for the day with them. “So what’s everyone going to do today?” Samuel asked.
Eric smiled, “Glad you asked, I'm going to be playing Spell Scorer. It’s a sport here, I know a pretty weird name but it’s fun.”
Charles looked at Samuel “I’ll be studying, wait will you let me study in your little secret room?”
Samuel smiled, “any time, and what about you Jackson?”
Jackson thought for a second, “I might go duel a bit in the open yard. Could be fun.”
“Nice.” Samuel said, “Well I guess I'm coming with you Charles, and don't bother Mohan too much. I don't know his limits yet.” Charles nodded
Samuel and Charles went to the library early, and went to their new secret room. Mohan was still down there and was just reading some books,
“It’s good you came back, I’ve been reading all about what we need to do with your new abilities.” Said Mohan.
“Great, but I was hoping to try learning more about the runes and how they work. Charles is just here to study.” Samuel said.
Mohan nodded, “As you wish, oh and by the way when are you going to tell Sylvan about all of this?”
Samuel started to feel guilty. Charles raised his hand, “I’ll go get him, he’s usually in the library this time anyway to find information on what they could do with the tech.” Charles ran up the stairs, and Samuel was able to open the door from all the way down in the study.
Samuel looked back at Mohan, “So what are we doing today?”
Mohan brought over a chalkboard as he did before, “Well I'm only able to tell you what you know, so we only know this rune.” Mohan drew the same rune that Samuel l had casted to make the small rock. “I’m guessing earth.”
“Same” Samuel said, “And there’s more on the door, let me copy them down.” Samuel ran to the door and copied the doors runes, he brought them down to the study and copied them down on the chalkboard. “These are the runes we know of.” He had labeled the one he knew as the earth rune, but the others were to be debated on.
“This one here shows up twice in the ritual, does it not?” Mohan asked,
“Ya it does, it’s a recurring rune.” Samuel said. Samuel wrote the rune down on a piece of paper, and tapped it. Water started to drift off of the rune to create a blob of water. “Huh, look.” Samuel could move it without even thinking.
Suddenly there was a large bang on the entrance Samuel cast All Seeing Eye to see who was there and it was Charles and Sylvan. Samuel ran to the entrance of the study and opened the door.
Samuel looked at Sylvan who was wide eyed, “Welcome to the secret study.”
“Really? That’s what you're calling this place? The Secret Study?” Sylvan said the Samuel,
“Well, I literally just came up with it.” Samuel said
Charles laughed, “Well I think it’s a good name, ‘The Secret Study.’”
Sylvan looked around a bit and poked some of the runes Samuel had been messing with, “Well what else is cool about this place? Other than the whole infinite knowledge thing.”
Samuel smiled, “Well, um Diya left. So Tome decided to become a ghost.”
Sylvan looked confused, “What?”
“Hey Mohan!” Samuel yelled throughout the study, Mohan appeared in front of them. “Sylvan, this is Mohan, he’s what you get when you mix a book with a spirit.”
Sylvan was looking at Mohan, “I don't see the difference from Diya.” Sylvan complained. Mohan approached Sylvan.
“I’ve heard a lot about you Sylvan.” Mohan said.
“Ok so he is different.” Sylvan said, “Nice to meet you, so what are you supposed to do?”
Mohan went over to the chalkboards. “This is what I'm supposed to do, help the next generation of Knight’s achieve everything he can.”
“So this guy has been helping you learn your new magic?” Sylvan asked,
Samuel smiled, “Yep!”
“Ok so what can you do?” He asked,
“Well I don't want to use too much mana, because you saw how I was yesterday. I have to try to use as little mana as I can, but my magic can be described as tough but fair.” Samuel said.
Samuel went back to the board, and got an idea. He went over to one of the desks and wrote something down, two of the glyphs as he was calling them connected to each other. It was the earth and the water rune.
Samuel held it to his friends, “Tough but fair!” Samuel ran out of the Study, throughout the school, and onto the field. He didn’t even use his speed. He placed the paper on the floor, and tapped it creating a dome over his head. He lowered the dome and ran back to his friends who were far behind. “I figured it out! Different combinations cause different spells! I could try to convert this into words!”
Sylvan looked into Samuels eyes, “Can you go slow for once in your life?”
After having an amazing discovery in the spell problem he decided to take more lessons with Mohan.
“So let's try this again. Try to create the armor around you.” Mohan said to Samuel, which wasn;t helping at all.
Samuel had learned multiple new spells at this point, but he couldn’t get this flame armor spell to work. He focused on what he always did, the sun, anger, power, but nothing was working for the fire spell.
“Nothing’s working!” Samuel complained, Samuel looked into what seemed to be an infinite amount of books behind all of the chalkboards. “Could there be something that could help me there?” Samuel asked.
Mohan looked into the book shelves, “I don't think anything’s in there that could help anyone.” Mahon said.
“Well why don't we try? I’ll go get Jackson and we’ll go look around.” Samuel suggested.
Mohan looked like he was thinking about whether it was a good idea, “Fine but just for a bit.”
“Thank you!” Samuel turned around and ran to get Jackson.
