Falling into a bottomless void was not how I planned to spend my morning. One minute, I was in my room, dealing with haunted feathers and creepy whispering. The next, gravity betrayed me. The floor just poofed out of existence, and suddenly I was plummeting through darkness, arms flailing like a malfunctioning windmill.
"AHHHHH-!"
I was mid-scream when I smacked into something. Not solid ground...more like a thick, swirling something that slowed me down just enough to make me feel like I probably wouldn't die. (Probably).
Then, just as suddenly as I started falling, I stopped.
I landed flat on my back, groaning. "Owww."
I stared up, expecting to see my bedroom ceiling. Nope. Just endless, swirling darkness speckled with tiny pinpricks of light. Like a galaxy had exploded and forgotten to tell me.
I sat up, rubbing my head. "Okay. Cool. Just fell into the void. Totally normal. Love that for me."
Then I noticed the feather.
It was floating a few feet in front of me, still glowing that weird purplish-blue, like it had personally escorted me into whatever nightmare realm I had landed in.
"Okay, what is your deal?" I grumbled, pushing myself to my feet. The feather didn't answer (rude), but it moved..slowly drifting forward, like it wanted me to follow.
Now, listen. Every part of my brain screamed DO NOT FOLLOW THE CREEPY MAGIC FEATHER. But what was I supposed to do? Stay here and hope a rescue squad popped out of the void?
