Chapter 9.

Tension in the Air.

The atmosphere in the room became tense as Alain, his father Amancio, and his mother Ana approached Don Vito Bardot, led by Mr. Hugo Bernal. Their eyes met, and the air seemed charged with electricity. Alain could feel the hostility emanating from Don Vito and knew he had to handle the situation with caution.

Don Vito, this is my friend I told you about, Amancio Bardot Leto, said Hugo Bernal, introducing the Bardot Letos with a smile.

Don Vito looked at them with his serious, cold countenance. Nice to meet you, Amancio, he said, briefly shaking Amancio's hand with palpable indifference.

Amancio, accustomed to dealing with powerful men, returned the greeting politely. The pleasure is mine, Don Vito. I have heard a lot about you and your family, he replied, maintaining his composure.

Don Vito made a subtle movement with his hand, indicating for his wife Serafina and Ana to go and talk to the other women present at the meeting. The two women walked away, leaving the men to continue their conversation.

Meanwhile, Christianne had already left the scene and Alain feel uneasy about where she had gone. His attention returned to the ongoing conversation, but his thoughts kept wandering back to her.

Don Vito fixed his gaze on Alain, his eyes full of distrust. And you must be Amancio's son, he said, making no effort to hide his distant tone.

That's right, Don Vito. It's an honor to meet you, Alain replied, maintaining his respectful tone.

The tension in the air was palpable, and Alain knew he had to proceed with caution. Any misstep could jeopardize his plans. As Amancio and Don Vito continued to talk about possible business alliances, Alain watched intently, looking for any clue he could take advantage of.

After a few moments, Don Vito seemed to lose interest in the conversation and excused himself to attend to other guests. Amancio, with a worried expression, turned to his son. Alain, be careful with that family. They are powerful and dangerous, he warned him quietly.

Alain nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. I know, father. I will be prudent, he replied, hiding his true feelings of revenge.

As the Bardot Letos moved through the crowd, Alain continued to look for Christianne with his eyes, but he could not find her. He knew that he had to be patient and wait for the right moment to confront her.

The evening continued, and although the tension in the atmosphere did not disappear, Alain remained firm in his determination, his father's words saying that they were powerful and dangerous continued to echo in his thoughts, because he had not paid attention to what they were saying because he was thinking about that woman, ¿how was it possible that someone like that existed? But seeing his father's demeanor he had no doubt that he had dominant genes in personality, because although the young woman looked like his mother and was very attractive, she seemed like the spoken portrait of a goddess returning to life...

Just remembering their first meeting, that beauty was rotting like a fruit that falls from the tree after being poisoned, then his mother told him: that girl is charming, she knows everything despite how young she is, she is only 18 years old, but she has a class that undoubtedly shows the good education she has been given at home.
