Now
Just like before, I felt his tears stain my shirt. “It will be alright Ash, I promise.”
He let go and sat down on the couch beside Mason. “This is what you get for kissing a straight guy,” Mason joked, but Asher elbowed him in the stomach.
“Asher, what happened? You kissed Devon? Give me the full story.”
“So, Devon was... very tipsy, but not, ‘forget everything’ drunk, but basically, he pulled me into a game of Do or Drink, and eventually when it was his turn, he got the ‘kiss the person to your left or quit’ and i was the person to his left, and we kissed. Later we ended up in his bed,” Mason chuckled and whispered something into Asher’s ear, “not that way, we were just lying there, and he kept kissing me, and then he said he would hate himself when he’s sober, i didn’t understand until around an hour ago when I found him pacing around the room, then he- he got uncomfortable and weird and told me to leave.”
“Typical drunk straight boy,” Mason was just being obnoxious now.
“Fuck off Mason,” Asher’s voice cracked slightly.
“I’m not the one who fell for him!”
“Well your the one who agreed to his bet, Mason,” His voice was just a little to loud.
“What bet?”
“Devon bet me $100 to get Danny to fall for me, it was one of the few reasons I asked him out,” He spoke a little quieter.
I heard the floor creak, and in the doorway, Danny stood there, his expression was a mix of confusion and heartbreak, “It was just a bet?”
Mason stood up quickly and stepped closer to Danny, “That’s not what I meant,” he tried to reach out to Danny, but Danny moved backward.
“You said you asked me out because of a bet,” I could see the tears welling up in his eyes.
“Please Danny, I didn’t mean it like that,” His voice became softer, “I love you Danny, please, I’m sorry.”
“If you asked me out because of a bet, lets end this,” I could see the fear fill Mason’s eyes.
“Danny... I’m sorry,” Danny just looked away, trying to keep himself from breaking down right there.
“Mason, leave, please,” Danny’s voice cracked a bit.
“Danny?”
“Please leave Mason,” He stepped farther backward.
“I’m really sorry Danny,” Mason’s voice broke.
“Mason, fucking leave, how many times do i have to repeat myself?” The tears slowly poured down Danny’s face, and Mason looked destroyed.
“Okay,” Mason’s voice was soft and broken, but he turned around and went towards the door. He stopped at the door, turned to face Asher, and mouthed something, and then walked out the door.
Danny backed himself into a corner, he hugged his knees to his chest, the tears kept pouring down his face.
“This is kinda my fault, isn’t it,” Asher blurted, he clearly felt bad.
“Well no fucking shit Ash, it isn’t kinda your fault, it is your fault, and Mason’s, and your little fucking straight boy crush, Devon. I’ve stuck up for you since we were kids,” I looked away from Asher, “but this time, im not sticking up for you this time, you fucked up a relationship.”
“Fiona, it was an accident, and why are you mad? I’d understand if Danny or Mason got mad at me, but why are you mad?”
“Because your fucking acting like dad, when he was pissed at mom, he’d blurt out life ruining shit, and the worst part is, you look the most like him,” my voice became softer.
“Fiona, I’m sorry,” He turned towards Danny, “and Danny, I’m sorry for being partually to blame for the downfall of your relationship.”
“I am fully blaming Mason on that... no need to worry,” Danny spoke so quietly i almost didn’t hear him.
