“It is okay Azura, they have already sent soldiers there.”
“Oh, that is good. Is little Prince, okay? Is he not scared of his life? He looks funny when he is terrified like a wet rabbit.” She laughs, “I should go laugh at him.”
“The duke took him with him to confront the imperial army attacking Brendina.”
“Is that so?” Azura asks. Disappointment.
“Don’t worry, the duke will protect him, and besides your time will soon come.” Rizontie tries to comfort her.
“Is it because he is a boy? Or, is it because he is the Crown Prince? What constitutes a father to acknowledge him before me? I should have been born a man, then my father would acknowledge me as the guardian of the north.”
“That is not the case, Azura. Your father loves and acknowledges you, he is just a bit overprotective. Rightfully so, you are his precious daughter.”
Azura rolls her eyes and puts the gargoyle head down.
“Whatever you want to believe.”
“Did you cross into the demon portal?”
“No, I found it in the Ogre’s cave.”
“What another gargoyle in the north? I am sure they were all banished to the demon world.”
“That is why I took the head back, to examine if it was a mutation or a forced entry. It looks like the demon king is searching for another war.”
The demon king has been trying to invaded the north for years now and made it one of its territories and he used other beings to invade the north and weaken it before starting a war. Five years ago, he nearly succeeded five years ago when his army heavily injured the duchess who was leading the north and almost killed her.
“Go clean up, I will get the mage to examine the head to see if there is anything to learn from it.”
“It also seemed to be strange blood; it was green and…...”
“You didn’t touch it, did you?” Rizontie exclaim.
But Azura could grasp a word, she could see his lips and the room was spinning. And somehow, she fell to the ground.
“Little duchess?” Rizontie shouts, “Someone please the family physician.”
“Is the green blood poisonous?”
Across Quica, Brendina was crying. in misery. As the northern army approached to protect its citizens.
“Burn everyone, you are dragons, they are just lowly humans whose leader took your crown Prince.” Viscount Magellan shouts proudly.
“No, don’t hurt innocent citizens” Sir Valen puts his foot down, “Your majesty, this is going too far. Shouldn’t we take this to the duke first and not the citizens?”
“Shut up you traitor, you are saying this because you are the North’s spy, aren’t you?” the Viscount argued.
The emperor seemed to have been tongue-tied. He wanted revenge for his son’s death. But he was only acting on impulse, he did not investigate his death further for him to witness the screams of the innocent as they die. As he struggles to decide, he sees a knight approach in panic.
“Your Majesty, the Duchess and her army have arrived to…”
He could not finish his sentence as he had already fallen victim to the northern guardian’s sword. And her silky Black hair was the last thing he saw.
“Your Majesty has grown boastful since our last meeting.”
Before the northern army could arrive on the scene, several dragons and royal soldiers were already victims to the duchess's sword. And the black dragon was going on a rampage protecting his soldier.
“That woman always ruins my plans.” The Viscount grumbles.
“Duchess, I order you to stand down. I am sure I told you we were going to talk as to why our home is being attacked first.”
“They did talk before attacking my people, why should I be the one who is merciful?” a spineless man she had married. It was clear that the relationship between the duke and duchess was not favorable from just a glance.
“Father, why are you doing this?”
The little Prince’s voice halts the whole royal army. “Why are you so hell bent into disrupting my life?”
