Two days had passed since I removed the infection, and Piper was healing, my head felt fuzzy and light.

I hadn’t really been sleeping well, I’m just so on edge….

Yawning, I walk through the halls, I had just finished my chores for the day, the bathrooms were cleaned.

That’s right! I need to somehow sneak her into the baths….I'm sure she wants one and is getting tired of just a wet cloth….

Groaning, I rub my face, I was doing a horrible job at keeping her hidden and healthy….

I didn’t think hiding a girl in my room would be so hard, but now I’m just always on edge.

Rubbing my eyes, I stop, frozen as I see my door cracked.

My heart felt like it was going to drop right out of my chest as I ran up and opened my door.

“Hey! Was waiting for you!” Said a boy with dark brown hair.

His name was Finley, and I didn’t care if he was waiting for me! Where was Piper?!

“Why are you in my room?” I quickly said.

Is she hiding? Did she run? Did she leave me….?

“Chill, no need to freak out, I just wanted to check in on you, you’ve been held up in here for days.” Finley said.

My heart began to race, and I took his wrist and pulled him towards the door, my hands sweating in my gloves from nerves.

“I’ve just been busy, please leave I’ve got stuff to do—“ I say.

Pushing him out, he tries to speak but I cut him off and close the door, leaning against it as my heart riots in my chest.

Panic fills my veins, I was so scared, and then I quickly look around, she’s not under the bed or…where-

“Is he gone…?” I hear a gentle voice whisper.

And slowly I look to the closet, and walk over, opening it up to see Piper giggling, her cheeks tinted pink.

“That was a close one.” She said with a laugh.

And I just stared, letting out a sigh of relief, she was okay, nobody found her.

Offering my hand, I tiredly smile at her.

“Yeah, it was…”

Reaching out her hands, instead of taking mine, she clasps my face, bringing it closer to hers.

“You look exhausted! You need to rest!” She pouted, and my cheeks burned, she was way too close!

“I-I’m fine!” I stutter out, I had never had a girls face this close, it was so embarrassing, closing my eyes, my cheeks burned.

“I’ll sleep later….” I mumble.

Silence filled the air, and after a bit, I opened my eyes and she was not staring at me, but more so through me…..it was a sad look….one deep in thought.

“Please? I’d feel horrible if I knew the reason you weren’t sleeping well was because you’ve been taking care of me.”

I didn’t know what to say, it’s true that was the reason but…..

“Okay…..I’ll nap…..is that okay?” I managed to say, and her eyes lit up like stars.

My chest felt warm….it was like someone cared…I hope she cared…I really do…..
