The phone rings, then is picked up off the side stand.
“Call me back once the sun is up”
Hang-up.
It rings again — ignored three times. I can't believe this, I'm trying to sleep.
Rings again.
“Okay obviously whoever the hell you are, you're persistent, so this better be worth my time.”
“It can be.”
“It better be. I'm up before the sun, and all I hear is chirping.”
“Well, my name is Marco.” Oh, Marco, the friend I was framed for killing. If this bastard had sense that would have never happened.
“Okay, and how does that help me?”
“Recently, last week, you helped a gentleman.”
“Get to the point, before I hang up.”
“Well we wish to show our appreciation for your help.”
“Nothing says thanks like money.”
“Yes. Money does seem to talk.”
“It does more than that if used right.”
“So… he was wondering if you're free to meet tonight?”
"How about you call back in, I don’t know, past sunrise — then we can talk meeting times.
Oh, and tell that bastard, usually when someone saves your life, you clean up the bloody mess so the host doesn't have to."
“I'll be sure to mention that.” This bastard is just as awkward as he was back then.
Hangs up
“Boss, she sounds ruff around the edges. Are you sure she's an angel?”
“Very much so. She's been through a lot. It's made her a little tough.”
“A little. I was actually scared while talking to her.”
Why is Salvatore smiling that girl makes the hairs on my neck stand up.
“You know, I always knew you had a particular type- but do you think maybe this is too far? “
“Nope. Believe me, she's worth it.”
Angie my Angel
Lawyer kim's Office
"So, all in all, you now have access to the trust your mother left, and the house is on the market.
And when it comes to your plans — I looked into them. You really hit the mark on these stocks, and even some of these other investments seem promising."
“Great, Mrs.Potts, are those cookies?”
“Yes dear, and tea. You all have been in here for so long you have to have worked up an appetite.” I've missed Mrs.Potts cookies. I have never had anything like this no matter where I went.
“Angela” He has to stop being so formal. I already call him Henry.
‘Call me Angie”
“Oh, well Angie, about the man last week that was on the couch...”
“No. We can't discuss it because it’s dangerous.”
“Right, it is. But technically, until a few days ago you were still a child.”
“I've been far from a child for a while.”
That shut him up
“I don't want you getting hurt or even worse. I promised your mom I would watch out for you.”
“I won't. I promise. So, we're all done here right?”
“Yes, at least for now.”
“Thank you Henry.”
“I can drive you wherever you're going, since it's late.”
“No, I have to do something and I'd rather be by myself.”
“Okay then, I'll see you soon.”
“Yeah soon.”
*Walk out the door onto the street.*
Now with the money secured I can get a place and a car to move around more freely. Well maybe not a car. If I remember correctly they put bombs on cars went doing hits but never on public transit
Who the hell is covering my face, and dragging me away. Like hell I'm going down easy again. If I can get my hands free. Got it.
*Punch — pulls out a gun.*
“Who the hell are you, and who sent you?” He's rolling on the ground and whimpering in pain. What kind of hit man is this?
“Talk or I'll just shoot you and ask no more.”
“It's me Marco. We talked on the phone earlier. My boss sent me to bring you to the meeting spot since you keep ignoring his calls.” This idiot, again, this idiot messed up. I almost really killed him.
“So he sends a lackie to kidnap me.”
“He said you’d appreciate a surprise visit.”
“Where's Your damn car, idiot.”
*He points across the street.* “It's over there ma’am.”
“Give me the keys.”
“What?”
“I said give me the keys. How the hell is he going to send an idiot to do something so important.” Why park across the street if you're kidnapping someone?
“Get in” Why is he giving that same dumb look. This idiot is the one they thought I killed. He is too easy to take out.
“I said get in or I'll leave you. And we know how your boss' temper is.”
“Yes ma'am.” *Gets in the passenger side.*
“Now, where are we going?”
“I'll put it on GPA.”
“You know, entering info like that on your personal phone is really risky, your gonna get yourself killed.” *pulls out device*
“It's my own homemade untraceable phone. I have a program on here where no one can hack or even retrieve data without my help. I'll get your phone protected because if not you'll get us all killed”
“Yes ma'am. Ma’am Could you possibly not mention this to my boss. Of course I wouldn't want your life on my hands so your secret is safe with me. Now how do you work this radio?”
Marchetti Estate
“Nice place.” I really have to act like this is my first time seeing this place or they may start to suspect me.
“Our boss is this way, please follow me.”
I can't believe he had Marco bring me to the family home. Usually he would meet at their family restaurant. He always said it's easier that way if things went south.
“Here she is boss.”
“What happend to your nose?”
“I fell”
“You fell?”
“Yes? Yes.”
“Oh sure fell. Okay. then be more careful next time.” He knows your lying Marco. His smile says it all. Thats why this idiot got killed so easily. He can't lie his way out of a paper bag.
“Will do. Then I'll excuse myself.”
“Please Angela, have a seat”
This seat is soft. “ So why did you go through all the trouble to get me here?”
“Your one to jump straight to business.”
“What do you want?”
“I want you.” Just as smooth of a talker as he was back then.
“Sorry I'll pass.”
“I've had you looked into. You're quite the character. IQ score is through the roof yet you're flunking out of school. You have a side business of how they say being a “middleman” in a lot of information exchanges.”
“What's it to you?”
“I need someone I can trust that can gather info.”
“Why do you think you can trust me? I might be the one to try and kill you.”
“Because as you said money can do a lot of things.”
*Looks at him intensely yes yes it can.*
“So what do you say about joining?”
“I'm sorry sir, but I know nothing of what business you run, so before I give an answer I'll need some information to make a decision.”
“I'm pretty sure you know who I am and what sort of business I do. You probably already looked everywhere to find info on me and my business. I assume so because just a few days ago we had a rat in our system looking around at our ledgers. We couldn't trace it but you know what they say about coincidence.”
“I don't know what you're talking about.”
“I'm sure you don't. So what do you say?”
“I need time to think.”
“I'll give you 2 days.” His smile is irritating.
