Victor: Everything is fine, he didn't really hurt me. I mainly blocked and he didn't really hit that hard.

Something was strange, but I couldn't tell what it was. So I decided to smile back at him relieved and tried to not think about it to much anymore. It could have been much worse than a bruise on his arm.

Sophia: We were so lucky. Thank you for your help. Without you, I probably would have a concussion if not a hole in my head. I also could have lost my life...

The silence between us as I looked down in shame returned. A single tear of relief ran down my cheek. Shortly afterwards, all the tears that had been building up followed as well. I guess my body had finally rediscovered its water connection.

Victor was just about to offer me a handkerchief, when Lisa asked the two officers to come in. They were led straight into our so-called, control room. It was a small room with two screens, so that the footage from the video cameras outside the store, could be analyzed and monitored.

Normally the room is also occupied, but the colleague from the security service starts at 8 o'clock. The police officers analyzed the video footage, after being informed of the facts of the attack.

When the officers looked at the footage, they flinched. They looked at each other in fear. As this seemed strange to me, I asked them if they already knew the attacker. They looked at me as if I had caught them in the shower.

Sophia: You know him, right?

Officer number 1 took a deep breath and replied reluctantly.

Officer 1: You're right, we know him.

Sophia: But that's great, then we'll find him faster like that.

My joy in response was immediately nipped in the bud. Their expression hardened and my hope buried itself under the ground like a coffin in a cemetery. Neither light nor confidence would dig it up again today.

Officer 1: We know him, because he looks diffrent every time.

Sophia: What do you mean? His Outfit or what?

Officer 1: No, his face changes every time. He always wears a mask that he makes himself. He is particularly good at it. That's why he's not afraid to be visible on the CCTV-footage. He is like a shape-shifter, yet his approach is identical. We try in vain to catch him. Unfortunately, we haven't succeeded in the last three years.

You have probably read about him in the newspaper or heard about him in some other way. He only attacks in front of security cameras. None of the victims seem to know him. Nor have they thought of a suspect who might hate them enough to take physical revenge on them.

Nevertheless, you are his first female victim. He usually attacks men, hits them with a baseball bat, scares the hell out of them and then disappears again immediately afterwards. So far no one has been hurt and fortunately he doesn't seem to have any murderous intentions. What I'm saying is that it was very unusual of him, to get that close to you.

He could have seriously injured you.

He seems to be mainly concerned with his victims' fear of death. Before he leaves, he grins maliciously into the camera and walks away from the scene of the crime. He also usually only attacks each target once.

Everyone present was breathless. We didn't know what to say.

So I'm his first female victim? Why? Why is this idiot chasing after me? Surely there are more interesting targets than me.

I looked dejectedly at the screen. An ice-cold shiver ran down my spine.
