Mantas and the young woman reach his quarters. The young woman thought it would have been a tower, but it's just a room in the palace.
He mumbles something and waves his hand. What looks to be purple smoke comes from the door, and it opens on its own. It seems like he had it so that only magic could open the door.
The room is packed with books and baskets of random things. There is a strong smell of herbs and the smell of old books. It looks more like a hoarder's mess. There are just piles of books and scrolls everywhere.
“Don't touch anything and sit.” He tells her as he enters. He moves a stack of books off a seat of a high-class loveseat with a blanket and pillow thrown on it.
She goes in and closes the door. Thinking he would want the door closed. She sits where he wants her to. She is about to talk again. But she was shushed by him once again before she could even say a word. She gives him an annoyed look for doing that, again.
He mumbles something once again. A purple aura starts to fill the room, coming from him. Once it fills the room, the purple color fades after some time.
“With the silence spell casted. We can talk fully now. Those idiots won't be able to hear us.” He thinks the royal family and many others are idiots. “Now what about the spell?”
She almost talked about it, but remember that he would have no clue what the internet or online shopping would even be about. “I think it would be better if I showed you.” She holds out her hand. “Online shopping!” She yells.
A 2D screen made of light appears in front of her. She didn't think calling it by name would work. But it did.
Mantas is interested in seeing that. He stands behind her to see it better. As he does. He can see words on the screen he can't read. The words are next to pictures of food with a number. “I see. I guess the skill is more based on your world?” He reasoned that.
“Yes! This world uses big and small copper coins?” She asks.
Without her even asking for money. He takes out a coin purse and gives her a few copper coins. Three small copper coins and two big copper coins.
She touches the skill screen and finds out she can scroll through it like someone could on a smartphone. She picked out a spice bottle of salt and some apples. She goes to check out. The screen asks for her to insert the coins. She put in the big copper coin.
The screen closes, and the items appear in front of her in a small flash of light with some small copper coins in change.
He watches her pick up the objects. He is interested in the strange container that is holding what looks to be salt. “Is that salt?” He asks to make sure. Salt can't be brought with a few small copper coins. Given that she was given a few small copper coins back. For same amount of salt, it would cost a few big silver coins.
“Yes.” She nods. She opens it and undoes the seal on it. She hands it to him.
He uses his pinky finger to taste it. He is surprised that it is salt. It's pure white and so clean. “This is worth a small gold coin. Maybe even a few.” He is thinking about how much the skill is worth with this salt alone. Her skill can feed towns, even cities, with a few coins.
“This is a dangerous skill for the king to learn about. He will force you to use it, his family too. But only to make them money.” He says.
“Then we escape this place.” She says it's like nothing unusual.
He stares at her like she is crazy for even saying something like that. That will be called treason. He will be hunted down like a criminal. Torture and kill him if he were brought back alive. “We? I can't take off with you. I have-” He almost said he has duties here. But it's just a source of entertainment. He doesn't do any real mage work.
“I guess you don't like being here?” She figures that, given that he had called people idiots before. The look he had given to the prince when he had shoved passed him.
“Yes. I hate it here. They put me in a tiny room. The loveseat, I had to have it sneak in here as the king thinks I could magic up furniture.” He said what the king had said before. He wouldn't call it something as dumb as magic up. It would be called conjuring. For a conjure to be used, it needs a source to conjure from or a place.
“Can sell a few things and get a horse and a carriage. Don't have to worry about food as I can supply it!” She grins. “Could say you're going to a source to look more into my skill for the reason of leaving.” She suggests. Thinking that will give them time to get out of there quickly.
“Why a horse and carriage? You have a dimension storage skill. I have one too.” He wants to hear her reasoning.
She has to be truthful to him. “Back in my original world. I didn't walk much. The shoes I'm wearing are super crappy. Plus, we would need shelter if we were to escape. Can't rest in inns or other places.” As they will be caught or quickly recognized. “With a horse. We can get away quicker.” She reasons with that.
“There is another creature we could get instead of a horse. It's quicker but costs more and needs to be fed more.” Only the wealthy use that creature.
“Should we sell more than just salt?” She thinks that might give away what her skill does for selling too much salt.
He thinks about that and agrees. He tells her what spices to get. He knows a place to sell them. She buys the spices with her skill.
“Need to put the spices in something else, as they are in something not from this world. I need new clothes and shoes.” As she will stick out like a sore thumb. She needs new shoes if she is going to be walking a lot. She guessed she could put the original containers in her dimension storage.
“I have bottles that are used for potions that can be used.” He looks for them in the mess of the room. “Since I'm leaving. I need to grab my things.” He wants to take as many of his things as he can. Which is everything in his dimension storage and the quarters. He wasn't allowed to have a home outside of the palace. In case the king or his family wants something from him.
He starts shoving as many things into his dimension storage. He puts things to the left of him, and stuff disappears from his hands. He starts with the most important things to him. Things that can't be replaced. Mostly books and scrolls. He can always get new clothes later.
The young woman watches him do that. She has no idea how dimension storage works. But she guessed just to put the hand somewhere like to put it in a box. She tries it with the apples and it works. She tries to remove the apples next. She imagines herself grabbing an apple from a box and it works again. She is happy she got that down quickly.
By the time she is done learning how to use the dimension storage. He is done with packing everything of his. He even took the blanket and pillow off the sofa. He hands the bottle to her so she can fill it with spices.
She puts the spices in the new bottles. “My name is Lexi.” She tells him that. Since he hadn't asked for her name yet.
He didn't, as he thought they wouldn't meet each other again. He didn't plan for him to escape with her.
“I think we need a third person to come with. Someone physically strong. As mages are normally not known for their physical strength. I'm not physically strong either.” She uses that reasoning to have someone else with her.
He thinks about that. He could tell she is telling the truth about herself due to how soft looking her hands are. He thinks of who to get to come with them. It has to be someone that will be royal to them, or native enough to believe them.
“I know someone. He is the son of a blacksmith of whom I go to many times for metal work or glass bottles.” As he is strong and native
