Pumpkin Sisters (NV)

September 15th (Part 2)

September 15th (Part 2)

May 25, 2025

The shock, confusion, and disbelief sank deep inside both Geneva's and Franklin's minds. They both couldn't believe their eyes, but the farmer himself had a more negative reaction that was more subtle. He didn't want to overreact, but he knew this wasn't normal at all. Ever since they moved into rural farm life, they had never encountered or grown any walking, weird-looking pumpkins. He was never for the supernatural or believed in it growing up, so his mind was on the brink of exploding from this.

Geneva herself was still in disbelief, as she started to wonder if any other weird-looking pumpkins she had grown in the past were prone to doing the same thing. However, she never really got the chance to witness it, as those pumpkins were either thrown away, carved for decoration, or used for something else before it happened.

She kept watching from the bushes like she was afraid to get witnessed by the little pumpkins herself, which was true. There was complete silence until Geneva said something finally.

"What am I looking at? Pumpkins now have arms and legs?" Her mind was feeling dizzy and disoriented.

"..."

"Was it the tea I drank this morning?  Something ain't right,"

The little orange pumpkin kept eyeing the transforming little green pumpkin. It looked at it with complete curiosity. The green pumpkin's arms and legs extended out, as it kept jittering.

"Hwa?"

The transformation was complete, it also received facial features just like the orange pumpkin. Both of them had cute little eyes, stems, and attached leaves. The green pumpkin's eyes slowly opened up. Instead of the sunny blue sky being the first thing it witnessed, it was the little orange pumpkin that stood curiously by its side. They looked at each other with their eyes, and nothing but curiosity grew between them. They both mimic the same facial expression of curiosity and confusion. They still had no clue where they physically were. The little orange pumpkin, however, had the most time being awake after gaining consciousness and feeling somewhat safe in the environment.

They were able to make sounds vocally, but couldn't speak coherently or perfectly yet. They had limited knowledge when it came to languages or anything else. They were a pumpkin, so they had no idea what a language was or how to pronounce words correctly. But that didn't mean they couldn't learn anything quickly. So, all they could do was try to speak the best they could.

The little orange pumpkin initiated the first interaction by waving at the green pumpkin, "Helwo!"

The little green pumpkin's eyes grew at the other pumpkin's sound. The orange one put on a smile for the first time, eyeing the other one.

The couple continued eyeing the two as they listened closely to what the little pumpkins were saying. It was like hearing aliens speak or animals speak for the first time. Geneva mumbled under her breath to her husband that she heard the little orange one make some sound. She still couldn't understand what she was seeing and hearing.

"What is going on?!" She's completely baffled.

"..."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The couple both snuck back inside the house, trying to gather attention from the pumpkins. They had a long, serious conversation about this, as they were now completely out of their minds. The disbelief will never go away, at least until they think of some solution or rid these pumpkins out of their lives.

"What should we do, honey?"

Franklin rubbed his head, trying to get rid of the stuck confusion he felt. It was clear that they couldn't let these pumpkins be seen by any visitors. Franklin feared that the visitors would be weirded out and scared by walking, talking pumpkins, and never visit this farm again. It was now a huge problem to him, especially since he was serious about his business.

He sighed, trying his best to come up with a solution, "This is not good, I can't imagine our visitors seeing walking and talking pumpkins."

"Same, I-I don't remember this happening to any of my older batches!" Her voice was shaky and nervous-sounding.

"These pumpkins are something else, though. I can't explain why they are doing that, but-"

A shot of both the orange and green pumpkins lying about on the grassy ground, looking up at the sunny blue sky. It looked like they were focused on cloud watching now. They both had happy expressions on their face as they continued to interact with each other. They didn't need to communicate with words, but instead with body language. The orange one was kind enough to help the green one try to stand up with its stubby legs.

"We need to get rid of them. Tomorrow, I'm heading out to take them somewhere, and hopefully we don't have this issue with any of the other batches."

"Is your brother available for chores?"

"Yeah, don't worry about it," He reassured his wife and told her not to stress too much. He patted her shoulder and gave her a quick hug.

"Hmm, I wonder if anyone knows any explanation for this?" Geneva's curiosity started to grow over this weird discovery.

Franklin frowned and went back outside through the front to finish his interaction with the visitors. He didn't think anyone would know a solution for walking and talking pumpkins. He was also afraid to ask anyone about it, as it would make him look like he was on drugs or that he was playing boy cried wolf. The chance of anyone in a town, city, or his most local neighbors knowing about this was low compared to what he could guess, so all he could decide on was getting rid of them.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The orange and green were now trying to have a verbal conversation, but it was still them making weird noises and just using body language. It was a brand new world, and the orange pumpkin had eventually caught on to the fact that the other pumpkins looked just like them, but without facial features or limbs. They immediately inferred that maybe this place was their home, but something was still off.

The two spent the many minutes stumbling around, looking at the environment and blue sky, poking at each other with the arm limbs, trying to communicate with each other, playing about and making grass angels in the grass.

Suddenly, a bird flew above into the blue sky, it flapped its wings until it landed on the highest point of the farmhouse. It stood at the top of the roof with its foot and talons leveled and secure to the surface. It was wearing a brown, torn cloak that was perfect for its size. It was a crow that didn't fully reveal its face, but its claws and beak were exposed to the sunlight when looking down at the two little pumpkins. The orange one spotted it quickly when they saw the bird fly towards the farmhouse out of the corner of their vision. It was enticing, as it was the only thing they had seen move quite fast in their sight.

While this was happening, the green pumpkin was interrupted by the sound of rustling straw right behind them. A pale, pumpkin jittered and rolled away from a group of straw-tucked-in pumpkins. It fell to the ground right in front of the other.

"Hmm?"

The orange pumpkin ran towards what they were looking up at, hoping they would get closer, but that's not how it works. They ended up slamming into the steel back door of the farmhouse.

BAM!!

It was very, very high up in their perspective, and the little orange pumpkin rubbed its face with its stubs, while grunting in pain. Their vision went blurry when they tried looking back up again at where the crow was standing. It was hard to spot where the crow was standing, but the orange pumpkin knew it was up there and wanted to interact with it or chase it.

"W-Wha?"
