DepTen; When A Depressed Guy Gets Reincarnated in Another World

The Desire to Grow Stronger

The Desire to Grow Stronger

May 21, 2025

It's been two and a half years since I became a Great Sage Class swordsman, and similarly to my magic, my improvement has stagnated.
It feels like I've hit a brick wall in my skill, and I don't have the right tool to break through.
to be honest however, I have no reason to become stronger.
I've just been doing it as a little hobby.
If I'm stuck on this, I could always just choose something else to do, like archery, or something unrelated to fighting, like writing or drawing.
I don't have to continue, I just do because I'm bored.

***

It's early in the morning, and it's currently fall.
I'm out on the road, running, like I do everyday.
The village's main source of income is farming, so you'd just see rows of wheat before stopping at the forest line, with some houses here and there, and some people to just working, tending to the fields.
I then stop, and breathe in the crisp air, stinging slightly, as it's almost about to be winter.
Sometimes, I'd stop to view at the fields, beautifully contrasting the blue skies, and the tall far off mountains.
But today, the farmers are currently harvesting, preparing to stock up for winter, and to sell to the merchants that pass our village.

I then approach one of the farmers.
"Would you mind if I help you?"
The farmer then turns, holding a wheelbarrow full of wheat.
"Oh, you're Reiss's daughter, the Great Sage class swordsman...Lilinet was it?"
I then nod, and he smiles.
"Well, you can go ahead and use that sythe over there."
I then turn to where the scythe is, beside a stack of hay, seemingly old and rusted.

"Oh, I won't need it sir."
The farmer then looks at me with a confused face, asking if I'm sure.
I then turn around, holding my hand out towards the unharvested rows.
With a swing of my arm, the rows of wheat fall to the ground.
And with slight movements of my fingers, the fallen wheat stack themselves on the field.
"Well, all that would be left is to tie all of them.",
The farmer then looks at me with a surprised look.
I wouldn't blame him, since, from what I've seen so far, this village doesn't have any mages.
He then holds my hands, and thanks me.
The other farmers then flock to me, asking me to help them harvest their fields.
What followed, was me being left with barely any mana.

***

"Ha, well, that was exhausting. They didn't hold back when it came to asking for my help."
I then stretched my arms behind my back.
"Well, gotta go back to running."
I then get on the road once more.
Well, since I'm pretty exhausted, I guess I'll go home a little ear...
Before I could continue the thought, i was interrupted by a sudden loud screech from above.

Looking up, I then realize that the hing that made that screech, was something I'm not prepared to fight as I am now.
Wings larger than any bird's, scales resembling a reptile, the lizard-like face, two horns, talons sharp as razors, and what most people would mistake as a Dragon.
That's right, the thing I saw, was a Wyvern.
Why is there a Wyvern here? From what I read, Wyverns are only exclusive to the Flamberica region, and we're in the Greios region, three regions away. Unless, it flew all the way here. But for what re..

Once more, I was interrupted by the Wyvern before I could finish my thought, attacking me with its talons.
Luckily for me, I always brought my sword with me in case of any sort of situation.
Unluckily for me however, my sword is a rapier, and I don't know if I can even kill it before my sword snaps.
And even if I could, I also can't reach it when it flies overhead.
I could've used my magic to kill it, but those farmers dried my mana pool up, and I only have enough to do one powerful strike.
I then hear the farmers running away, hopefully, far enough away.
Drawing my sword out, I prepare myself to face the Wyvern.
Even if I can't beat it, I'll at least buy some time for anyone to call some adventurers, who are hopefully, strong enough to beat it.

I then hear a thud behind me, and I turn around, to see a kid who tripped while running.
The Wyvern, seeing this, then goes for the kid instead, flying in to strike the kid down.
Turning around as fast as I can, I ran towards the kid, with no consideration for my own safety.
I then take the brunt of the Wyvern's attack, getting slash deep enough to kill me, but I didn't die.
I then coughed up blood, and weakly told the kid to run away.
As he ran, I turned to face the wyvern, who flew up one more time, to finish the job.

Swooping down, it flared out its claws to strike me, and... It his claws went through my gut, a piercing shockwave of pain resounding throughout my being.
With what remained of my strength, I grabbed onto its claws, trying to hold it down.
I then pointed the tip of my sword towards the Wyvern.
In a last ditch effort, I pulled my sword back as far as I could, to stab my sword into the Wyvern.
I then stabbed into what seemed to be the Wyvern's chest, boosted using my most powerful wind magic.
My attack was basically using my sword as the point where my wind magic would be concentrated and spiraled, turning into a sort of drill.
My arm then fell to the ground, as I spat out more blood.

My sword was completely shattered to the point where only the hilt remained.
Dust covered up what left of the Wyvern, and I only hoped that I atleast pierced through the Wyvern's heart.
As the dust settled, I could see what remained of the Wyvern.
I initially thought that I was strong, strong enough to deal with any threat I'd face against.
But, after what I saw, I realized, I was powerless.
As my attack, barely shattered the scale of the Wyvern.

The Wyvern then pulled it's claws out of my body as it flew up once more, slightly carrying me up as it did.
It blocked out the sun as it finally reached the apex of its flight, as if it was telling me, like how the sun vanished behind it's shadow, the same would happen to what remained of my energy to live.

Ahh-, I didn't think I would die again this early. I didn't even leave anything for my new family. I didn't even leave my mark on this world. I didn't do anything that would make me remembered.  Is there another chance for me? Would I be reincarnated once more, would I be able to live again for a third time? I doubt it, there's nothing I can do, I just gotta accept that this is where I'm gonna die, permanently.

The Wyvern then came flying down, with its claws pointed towards me.
It's not gonna let me live this time, I know it.
I then closed my eyes, preparing myself to be killed.
"I'm not gonna let you die here kid."
I hear a stranger say, being followed by the sound of flesh being sliced.
When I opened my eyes, I saw the someone standing, wearing blue half-plate armor and orange hair, covered in bits of flesh and blood.
I then muster up the strength to look down, seeing the Wyvern's lifeless body, lacking its lower half, layed onto the ground.

The person then turns to me,and says something.
I can't hear what he's saying, like it's being muffled by something soft.
He's calling someone over, from what the person looks like, they're a cleric.
She's trying to heal me, and the guy's arguing with her.
"Hurry... Heal..."
I can't make out anything else.
I don't know who this person is, but one thing's for certain, he's strong.
And, I think I wanna be... as strong as hi...
