Mantas and Lexi are heading to the next place that is closed by. “We are going to get a couple of freyjas and a carriage,” Mantas says.
The name freyja sounds familiar to Lexi, but she can't figure out why. She might figure it out later.
They reach the place to get the freyjas. The building is large, but no stables were in sight. Lexi guessed the freyjas might not take up much space. She wonders what kind of fantasy creature it is. She hopes it's something cute or cool.
They enter the building. Mantas has Lexi stay behind as he goes to work out the details and buy what they need. He has money to buy the freyjas and carriage. He figures Lexi wants to rest her feet more too.
He goes off to browse and buy what they need. He needs a worker to help him and sort things out.
Lexi takes a seat to let herself rest. She looks around to see what to do. She freezes in place when she hears a cat meowing. She just loves cats due to how cute they are. She wants to pet the cats she is hearing.
She gets up and follows the sound of the meows. As she does so, the meows get louder. Like it's coming from a bigger house cat, not a small one. She is loving that idea to find a friendly big fluffy house cat.
She stops at a door where there is a window at eye level in the door. A fluffy orange cat is looking at her. The head is bigger than a normal house cat size. She figures it might be an odd fantasy cat as she can only see the head. She figures there is a thing for the cat to stand on to look through the window in the door.
She looks around, making sure there is no one around. Once she is sure it's clear. She buys some cat treats. Some tubes and a container of dry cat treats. She figures the cat will like one over the other. As cats are picky over food and treats.
She opens both and puts away most of the cat treats and opens the door. There is a weight on the door that is making it hard to open it. It goes away once she opens it more and goes in.
She looks shocked at what she is seeing. What she thinks is a bobblehead house cat, but a massive cat. The cat looks like a house cat, but is the size of a large dog.
The massive cat goes up to her. Meowing and rubbing against her. It's like it's trying to push her with how big and strong it is. It reaches her hip when standing. “Good kitty. You want a treat.” She opens a tube, not wanting it to attack her. “You want a tube?” She holds it out. Hoping it will work as an offering.
The massive cat smells it and licks up the liquid treat. Lexi is trying to keep it coming out. She wonders what will happen once it's all gone. She can open more or use the dry treats. But bigger animals need a lot of food to be full and happy.
A second massive cat comes from a hole in the wall. The hole is half the size of it, as cats can go through any opening as long as it's as big as its head. This massive cat is black and white and just as fluffy as the orange one. It goes to see what the orange one is eating.
“There's a second one!” She has a mix of fear and surprise. She holds a handful of the dry treats to it. It smells and eats the treats from her hand. Being careful not to bite her.
After the treats are gone. The massive cats rub against her and purr. “At least you can purr.” She knows only a handful of felines can purr. She put away the empty tube in her dimension storage.
The orange one rubs its head against her hand. Wanting pets from her. “You want pets?” She pets the head. The other one tries to get pets from the same hand. It shoves the orange out of the way with its body.
“I have a second hand to pet you with.” She laughs. She sits in a chair in the room and pets the two. They both try to lie on her lap. Due to the sizes, it's impossible to do so. One ends up lying on her feet, the other half way off her lap. Looking like a rag doll toy. Lexi's fear and shock is gone and replaced with happiness of petting soft kitties.
After a while. The massive cats fell asleep on her. She is getting sleepy too. With all she had gone through, and having fluffy and warm cats on her.
The door opens. Waking up the massive cats. They looked at the door. Almost making Lexi jump. A man wearing an apron comes in, being followed by Mantas.
“What are you doing here!?” The apron wearing man asks, he has an angry tone and look.
“This is the woman I will be traveling with. Lexi.” Mantas says to get the aproned man to calm down.
“No one should be in the rooms without a worker! The door should have been locked. Are you two trying to steal from us?” He gets in Mantas's face.
He is having none of that. “I had shown you that the freyjas and carriage can be brought before. One of the other workers might have left the door unlocked.” He defends himself and Lexi.
The aproned man is still angry. "The two of them have already bonded with her. The two of you can buy them.” He is just an angry man. Even so, he works with sweet and cute kitties as a job. “The orange is Biscuit. The black and white is Muffin.”
Lexi thinks those are the sweetest names for sweet cats. She doesn't want any other names for them.
The angry apron man gets the massive cats off Lexi by telling them to sit somewhere else. They do as they are highly trained cats. “Once things are paid. Things need to be set up and ready before you can take them.”
Mantas agrees, and he has Lexi come with him. They can pay for everything. He doesn't want Lexi to wander off again. Not wanting to have to buy more of the freyjas or other things if Lexi does it again.
Mantas pays for everything with 12 of the small gold coins they just got before. Once things are done. The two of them leave.
“One final stop. To get the blacksmith's son.” He wants to head out of the place as soon as he can. Before time is out for them to escape.
They head to their final stop. They have to walk more as it's to a different part of the town.
Lexi likes that she had rested her feet before; the new shoes are helping a lot. But her legs and feet are very sore. She wants to sit forever after this.
“Those massive cats are called frejas?” she asks. She wants to know more about them.
“Yes. They were once a breed of feline monsters. Their much larger and dangerous species type can still be found. But they can't be tame like the frejas.” He tells her. He informs her that they were domesticated centuries before this kingdom. They are used as guards and as faster creatures to transport things or people than horses. Many get them as house pets. But they are pricey to keep due to needing to feed them meat.
Lexi wishes that Mantas had warned her what animals they will be getting are massive cats. This way she wouldn't have wandered off and almost shit herself at being in a room alone with massive cats. But that is in the past.
“Don't wander off again. You will get lost. Might even be harmed by someone or something.” He warns her.
“Yeah, yeah.” She rolls her eyes.
He is perplexed by that. That she is acting like that isn't something to be worried about. “How are you not worried that much?” He asks.
“Because you're with me. You can take care of anything dangerous,” She says, like it's the simplest thing to say.
He doesn't know what to say. He feels a little proud that she thinks he is powerful enough to take care of her from dangers. But something else he can't place. He hadn't felt that way about someone else.
He is trying to figure out what the feeling is until they get to the blacksmith. Standing by the smithy, heat can be felt from the ongoing forge.
An older man with a bushy green beard is hammering away at a metal bar. Some other younger men with the same tan skin and green hair working on glass works or metals are in there too. All of them are wearing the same headwear over their ears.
Mantas hates standing or going near it. He has no idea how the blacksmith or his sons could handle the heat. He stands so they can hear and see him.
“Bruno!” He yells out.
The younger man hears and turns to look at them. Being able to hear him even with the headwear on. Each having some kind of facial hair. “Dad!” They all yelled.
“Huh! Is it dinner?” The older man looks up to look around. He sees Mantas. “It's you.” He put the metal bar in a bucket of water and put his tools away. He removes the headwear.
He goes to leave the smithy with Mantas, with Lexi following them. They enter a nearby house that seen better days. It even looked like parts of it is being added on. “What brought you here?” He asks. His voice is loud, due to lack of hearing. “Were the glass bottles fine?”
“Yes. But that isn't why I'm here.” He nods and talks a little louder so Bruno to hear him.
He sits at a table in a small kitchen. Mantas joins him at the table. Making himself at home. Lexi joins them, sitting closer to Mantas. Not knowing the other man very well.
“I wouldn't think you would finally get a girl. Being looked up in your room in the castle.” Bruno is thinking that Mantas and Lexi are gonna get married.
Mantas gives an annoyed look. He wondered how many other people had thought the same. “I'm not getting married.” He groans. He knows he doesn't go out as much. That's because he doesn't want to run into the idiots of the royal family.
“I'm here to see if Amor will go with us out of here. We need someone physically strong with us.” He tells him. His leg is bouncing, just wanting to just get out of here.
“Amor!” The older man shouts.
A young man with the same green hair and tan skin comes out of a room. He has pretty blue eyes compared to his father's dark eyes. Like his brothers and father. He has facial hair, but his beard is stubble compared to the full beards or mustaches that his dad and brothers have. “Mantas is here!” He is happy to see him. “You have a pretty lady with you.”
Lexi's cheeks become slightly pink after being called pretty by a clueless and handsome guy. She kind of wants to feel his chest from what she can see from his tight shirt. He doesn't have a massive amount of muscles, but is buff enough to have a big chest she wants to use pillows.
“Lexi.” Mantas points to her. “And I are leaving in a few minutes. We need a third person. All food will be taken care of and we will pay you.” He doesn't want to waste any more time.
“Let me pack my clothes and grab my battle hammer!” He says, clueless that he might be on the run. He goes back into the room and grabs his knapsack. He puts it on and grabs his battle hammer. The battle hammer is close to his slightly above-average height. He rejoins them. “I'm ready!” He grins.
Mantas raise an eyebrow at that. “That was fast.” He wondered how he packed so fast.
“I was gonna travel to the mines to get ores.” He tells him. He or one of his brothers does that. They take turns to do it.
“Let's go. They should be finished getting the carriage done.” Mantas gets up and leaves. Lexi and Amor follow after him.
