After purifying the village and saying farewell to the legendary Sacred Skinner, Kael and Lys continued down the road, leaving chaos — and the stench — behind.
A few kilometers ahead, the grimório floated beside Kael, blinking discreetly.
> New Mission Detected:
> “Corrupted Energy Anomaly Nearby.”
> Reward: ???
Kael sighed.
“Not again…”
Lys looked around, alert.
“What is it?”
Kael activated his ability:
> “Residual Vital Trail — Activated.”
His eyes glowed amber and, through mystical infrared, he saw a putrid energy trail slithering through dead vegetation, disappearing into ancient ruins.
He pointed.
“Over there.”
Lys adjusted her spear, smirking.
“Only you could sniff out something like this…”
Kael just muttered:
“It’s a gift… or a curse.”
Lys, sincerely, without exaggeration:
“Either way… supreme master, as always.”
Kael just huffed and moved on.
---
The trail led to a forgotten region: ruins devoured by vegetation, covered in a dense, putrid mist.
Collapsed columns, shattered statues — remnants of a once-grand civilization…
Now rotting, corroded by the lesser god’s curse.
Kael leaned against a stone wall, following the invisible trail to a hidden crevice.
With a slight push, he revealed a narrow passage.
“Found it.”
Lys smiled.
“Of course we did.
Supreme master.”
Kael rolled his eyes, entering first.
“You never get tired of that, huh?”
“Not at all.”
---
They cautiously descended through a complex of damp, rotting tunnels.
There, they found the rot:
Enslaved workers toiling silently, heavy chains, vacant stares…
Guarded by deformed thugs, half-human, half-abomination, corrupted by the curse.
In the center, a large hall, where a grotesque figure — the Lesser God’s Avatar — ruled:
Three meters tall, vacant eyes, putrid energy tentacles sprouting from its back.
In the corrupted ruins, Kael and Lys face a grotesque Avatar, save slaves and earn a new record. But the green enemy — the lesser god — still lurks, promising to chase them to the end.
Kael Thorne was just a regular guy from Earth — until he woke up in a world where power rules, masters are gods, and survival depends on how well you can fake it.
With a secret system only he can see, an invisible grimoire handing out absurd rewards, and a floating ghost version of his inner panic, Kael must maintain the facade of a legendary Master while learning how this world works one bluff at a time.
In a corrupt land ruled by strength, Kael might just become a legend — as long as no one finds out he's making it all up.
