When I started making my way back down the hallway, the hot, sticky substance coating half my body and face made it hard to move correctly. It was almost impossible for me to focus on trying to be quiet and not alert anyone or whatever was in my home to my presence. The fear of what was happening to my son made it almost impossible to stop myself from sprinting down the hallway and slipping again.

As I made my way down the long hallway of my home, I tried my best not to slip again on whatever was on the floor, my footing slipping here and there as I was closer to my son's room. I would catch myself, but the darkness flooding the hallway did not make my task easier as I grew closer, rounding a corner, the hallway felt longer than I remembered it, being I could see the light flickering at the end of the hallway coming from Jason's room the sound of ripping and tearing flooded the hallway followed by loud crewing, and an animalistic growled. A soft whimpering and crying came from the room, almost nonexistent over the noisy, ungodly noises. This flooded my mind with fear as I grew closer, moving faster, holding on to the wall for dear life, praying to god I didn't slip and fall, letting whatever it was know that I was here.

As I finally reached the door, the 30-second track to it felt like it took hours. As I grew closer to opening it, I stopped the flickering light flooding into the hallway, illuminating the floor and showing me what I had slipped in and what covered most of my body. I froze. I realized that the hot, sticky substance coating my body was blood. My mind started ticking over, finally slowing down enough for my sense of smell to kick in. The putrid smell of iron flooded my nostrils, making me gag quite, almost causing me to vomit.

Before my mind could start to put the pieces together, the sound of the animal eating in the room next to me began again, pulling me from my mental breakdown. He knew now that no human could do this. It had to be an animal that got in somehow. The sound was more erratic, like it was starving, like I was eating its first meal in months. The sound of it chewing and the sound of what he now thought of as ripping flesh flooded the hallway. He now realized that Jason's whimpers were gone; fear flooded my mind as I grew closer and looked into the room, scared of what I might see. I glanced around the room, seeing nothing at first but darkness until the lamp on the ground lit the room up briefly. His heart sank as he saw that the room was destroyed.

He saw movement as he glanced around the room. He looked to see a woman standing on Jason's bed. She was crotching over something, which seemed to be where the chewing noise came from. He watched as she ripped something from her prey, bringing it to her mouth and devouring it, causing the chewing to return. I could only tell it was a woman from her dark black hair that went down to the midpoint of her back and the blood-drenched underwear she was wearing. Something was off about her. She was far too skinny, looking like skin draped over a skeleton. Her arms and legs were far too long to belong to a normal person. I couldn't get much more than that before the lights went off again, drenching the room into darkness.

As the lamp flickered back to life briefly, I scanned the room again, praying that what she was eating was an animal and not my son. He hoped Jason was hiding somewhere in his room, but his hopes were dashed as he finally looked at what she was eating. He let out a quiet whimper, trying not to sob, and spoke under his breath.
