All I could do was stare, my body frozen as I started at my son's body. His head hung over the footboard, his cold, lifeless eyes staring at me, tears staining his cheeks, his face frozen in fear and desperation, hoping for someone to save him. His mouth hung open in a scream that never came, blood staining his lips and chin. My heart ached to see him like this. It felt as tho my soul was ripped from my body as I watched this insane woman consume him like he was buffet. 

It took everything in my power not to run to him, push the woman off of him, and hold him one last time to tell him everything would be ok, even if it would have been a lie. Tears started to form in the corner of my eyes."im a coward," I thought to myself, fear still holding in place as I watched the sense unfold from my hiding place behind the door.

The lamp flashed one last time before the light blob burned out, giving one last burst of light through the room before it was consumed by the darkness of the night. I saw a feather tattooed on the woman's back with the word hope written in cursive right below it. Tears started to fall down my cheeks as I realized who had killed my son.

Damon: P...piper 

I stutter out between light sobs, trying my best to hold myself together. I knew as I let my guard down, I would be dead. My wife looked up from the bloody mess of a meal she made out of our son as a cloud moved from the clouds, allowing moonlight to filter through Jason's window. I could see a faint outline of her body as she looked at me. Her eyes glowed blood red, a look of hunger in her eyes, her head cocked to the side as if she was confused to see me or couldn't remember who I was. He looked her over while she seemed to be studying him. Her arms and legs were too long for a normal person to have her body withered down to nothing but skin and bones.

I slowly tried to step back, hoping the movement wouldn't make her attack. As I did, she crawled off the bed smoothly, crawling on her hands and feet like an animal. The motion was so smooth it caught me off guard. The grace and speed were unnatural as she closed in fast in one swift motion. She got to her feet and sprinted at the door, causing me to slam it right in her face. I stepped back, getting halfway to the corner of the hallway. Pipper slammed her body against the door, but it all stopped as fast as it started, and silence filled the hallway. I thought for a moment in the silence and turned the light on in the hallway so if I had to run; I would have a clear path to avoid the blood on the ground, something I wished I had done when I first got into the hallway, but hindsight was 20/20.

As the silence continued, three sharp knocks echoed through the hallway, breaking it. The sound was coming from Jason's door.

Pipper: can I come in 

The voice belonged to my wife, but it was higher than usual, with a note of inanity floating on the tone. My blood froze as the door knob to the room began to turn.
