After the Divorce, My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back

"What's wrong? Why are you in a daze?" Jack came out of the bathroom, drying his hair and looking at me curiously.

I snapped back to reality and looked up at him. He was just wrapped in a towel, with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and well - defined abs. Jack always kept himself in great shape.

Some people envied me, saying, "With his good looks, as long as he's not committing serious crimes, what can't be forgiven? Besides, he's so devoted to you!"

I always thought Jack was loyal to me, but now it seemed that was just my assumption.

"Oh, by the way, someone called you just now. They didn't say a word and hung up. You might want to check it out."

"Probably a spam call. Don't worry about it." Jack took his phone casually.

He threw the towel into the laundry basket and picked up the pack of cigarettes on the table.

"I'm going out to the balcony for a smoke." Since I didn't like the smell of cigarettes, Jack always smoked on the balcony.

But it turned out he wasn't just going for a smoke.

A short while later, Jack came back in. As he was getting dressed, he said to me, "Honey, I have to go out. There's an emergency. Don't wait up for me tonight."

"What's going on?"

"Tom's machine is acting up. It was working fine during the test, but as soon as it got to him, the screen goes blank or the program crashes. I have to go and take a look. If it's too late, I'll stay there."

"Is Ben going with you?"

"Yeah!"

It all sounded so convincing, with facts, reasons, and even a witness. I nodded and said, "Stay safe."

Jack left in a hurry. I stared at the wedding photo on the wall for a long time. I just couldn't understand. Why? Why did Jack cheat on me? And who was that girl?

Her face, the financial exchanges between her and Jack, and those posts on her social media...

All these thoughts flashed through my mind. Suddenly, I had an epiphany. I quickly grabbed my phone. I realized I'd seen this girl before.

It was about half a year ago. Jack got into a fight and was taken to the police station. I went to bail him out. He was okay, just with a small scratch on his cheekbone.

But he was in a terrible mood, looking fierce and full of anger. I hadn't seen him like this since his teenage years.

He had beaten the other guy black and blue. The guy was shouting for an apology and compensation. Jack just sneered. If I hadn't held him back, he would have gone at the guy again.

After the matter was settled, I took him away. A girl in a work uniform rushed up to him and said gratefully, "Sir, if it weren't for you today, I don't know what would have happened. Thank you so much!"

I was taken aback and looked at Jack. He looked annoyed. "I suggest you find a new job."

The girl looked sad. "I wouldn't do this if I had a choice..."

Jack got even more irritated and interrupted her rudely. "It's none of my business. Do whatever you want!"

That day, Lucy came with me. As Jack brushed past the girl and walked away quickly, Lucy pulled me aside and said, "Don't you think that girl looks a bit like you?"

I laughed it off, thinking she was over - imagining things.

But I still couldn't help looking back at the girl a few more times. Now, the memory matched the photo in front of me. It was her.

After the Divorce, My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back

I'm five years older than Jack. So, when he was 28, I was already 33.

He once told me that age would never be an issue between us.

However, later he said to his childhood friend, "I don't know why, but once Lily turned 30, I just feel she's... a bit off-putting."

After that, he had an affair with a woman who vaguely resembled me.

He gave me love and gave her physical intimacy, they think I won't find out.. That was until I presented him with the divorce papers.

I smiled and told him, "Actually, there's a great advantage to dating and marrying an older woman. That is, she can take risks and handle the consequences!"
