After the Divorce, My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back

In the end, we didn't go to the rented apartment.

Instead, we stayed in the car. Jack lit a cigarette and fell silent.

Since I brought up the topic of divorce, he hadn't said a word. I was also quiet. All the intentional acts to annoy him on the way here had now left me feeling drained.

While I was trying to disgust him, wasn't I also torturing myself?

I took out a cigarette from my bag and lit it.

"How long have you been smoking again?" Jack's voice was hoarse.

"What?"

"How long has it been since you started smoking again?"

I'm five years older than Jack. When he was in college, I had already started working.

The work pressure at that time was so great that I picked up the habit of smoking. Jack forced me to quit.

He said, "It's bad for your health." He also said, "I'll buy you candies." And, "If you're angry, just hit me, but stop smoking!"

Later, I really quit and didn't touch cigarettes for seven or eight years.

But because of this incident, I started smoking again. Thinking about it, I said, "The day after you spent the night with Sarah."

Jack's hand trembled. The still - burning cigarette butt fell on the leather seat, burning a hole instantly.

He quickly swept it away, but it was too late. He still stubbornly tried to smooth out the burn mark, pressing harder and harder with each attempt.

Finally, he lost control and kicked the car door. "Damn it!"

He said, "I can't fix this, and you won't forgive me, right?"

"Yes."

He gave a sarcastic smile and reached out his hand.

"The divorce papers." He didn't even look at what was written on them. He just flipped to the last page and signed his name.

"I won't go back to that house. I'll clear my stuff out later."

After saying that, he got out of the car. Leaning on the door, he said into his phone, "Come out. You're not staying at school tonight. I'm waiting for you at the school gate."

Hanging up the phone, he raised his eyebrows at me.

"Let me know when you're ready to go to the civil affairs bureau."

I'm five years older than Jack. So, when he was 28, I was already 33.

He once told me that age would never be an issue between us.

However, later he said to his childhood friend, "I don't know why, but once Lily turned 30, I just feel she's... a bit off-putting."

After that, he had an affair with a woman who vaguely resembled me.

He gave me love and gave her physical intimacy, they think I won't find out.. That was until I presented him with the divorce papers.

I smiled and told him, "Actually, there's a great advantage to dating and marrying an older woman. That is, she can take risks and handle the consequences!"
