On Saturday, 6 March, 4500 A.G.M. on the Titan timeline, three employees (one mid-level and two low-level) who were meeting in apartment 4004 of the AEONALIZE LIVING complex reported a Type B incident in the adjacent apartment 4005.

Two individuals appeared to be screaming uncontrollably until their voices were drowned out in unison.

The three witnesses—identified as Synnabar Valley, Harper Quinn, and Ailill—reported two loud ‘bangs’ prior to the screaming, and two more at the moment the voices were drowned out.

The doors to apartment 4005 had to be physically forced open, as the floor manager's master card failed to unlock the digital keypad. At first, technicians considered that one or both users had hacked the digital door control, but if that had been the case, AEONALIZE's white hat hackers would have been able to release the controls without any problem. The technicians had to wait six hours for AEONALIZE LIVING's main office to review the situation and authorise the total destruction of AEONALIZE property.

The source of the problem was determined when it was found that the internal control of the door had been physically destroyed by one of the individuals. Judging by the damage - the control panel appeared to have melted onto the wires - the technicians assume that it was done with fire. It has not yet been determined how the perpetrator or perpetrators were able to do this.

Upon entering, it was discovered that the subjects had been dead for about two hours, with severe injuries to the frontal lobe of the brain. Both employees had died from blood loss, which was not surprising to the technicians, as the individuals' blood had formed a pool that was seeping under the door.

Both bodies were identified as Rika Reynolds and Carlos Reyes, who were under the supervision of Rolland Door and Sharleene Dove, respectively.

Both Rolland and Sharleene are being questioned in the prisons of their respective buildings.

So far, the perpetrators' records report that Rika and Carlos had carried out four missions together to the Paleo-Babylonian Empire and six missions to Sassanid Persia, both from the Artemis timeline. Their posts on the neural network serve as evidence that both subjects considered themselves bound by some kind of exclusive bond, reminiscent of the ancient ritual of marriage. Neither Rika's nor Carlos's accounts mention that they had romantic or sexual relationships with other AEONALIZE employees.

Carlos's records do reveal, however, his connection to another criminal couple, Leonard Gess and Clayton Brody, who committed suicide in a manner similar to this case, locking themselves in and detonating their ME implants. Leonard and Clayton are currently residing in their building's prison.

Investigators believe that Carlos may have learned Clayton and Leonard's methods to use them in conjunction with Rika, as the possible trigger for the incident could be the same:

The couple had been assigned to other partners, as AEONALIZE regulations dictate that two employees cannot be partners for more than twelve missions to prevent this type of event.

It is possible that the event was due to an error on the part of supervisors, who limited themselves to counting the number of missions, overlooking the duration of each one. The average time Rika and Carlos spent on each mission was 12 months.

Both episodes have been added to the list of examples that will be provided from now on during official AEONALIZE training, as they demonstrate the danger of pathological attachment between employees.

Although early detection of this condition often helps resolve the problem by providing individuals with educational materials, chemical assistance, and corrective relationships, the danger that both subjects will refrain from reporting their moods remains a current problem.

The autopsy revealed that the cause of death and the double ‘bang’ reported by witnesses were caused by a massive failure in the AEONALIZE ME implant software, which led to hardware overheating. The alleged screams may have been the result of the implant increasing in temperature.

It is believed that the subjects may have illegally tampered with their respective MEs, causing the altercation.

The AEONALIZE LEGAL office is currently analysing additional laws that may or may not have been broken by them, so their bodies will remain at the AEONALIZE AFTER facility while charges are being brought against them. The direct supervisors of both subjects will also be investigated for the crime of their subordinates, as it is the supervisor's responsibility to keep abreast of the emotional state of their assigned employee.

Once the charges have been defined, the perpetrators will be reanimated by nanobots and will spend the appropriate amount of time in the AEONALIZE LIVING prison. Forced labour will be added to this time to compensate for the price of the nanobots used.

Finally, in accordance with AEONALIZE regulations, the perpetrators will be executed for the crime of self-harm, in the event of intentional suicide, or for modifying the AEONALIZE ME code, thereby violating the terms of use that they themselves signed after being provided with the implant.

At this time, the confirmed charges for both Rika and Carlos are:

a) Destruction of AEONALIZE inorganic property

b) Indirect destruction of AEONALIZE inorganic property

c) Attempted direct destruction of AEONALIZE organic property

The sentences total 40 years in prison.

Conclusion:

The misuse of time spent together and negligence in reporting one's own and subordinates' changing moods remain a constant danger to the general population. It is therefore imperative that the teachings of AEONALIZE's founding leaders, which encourage individuals to ‘use and discard, not attach,’ be reaffirmed. Although it is a difficult mission, it is the moral duty of the company to facilitate the evolution of humanity by eliminating aspects that stand in the way of efficiency and progress, in order to achieve maximum human potential.
