“Austin, if we don’t leave we’re going to die.” The glass began to crack so I pulled Austin back, took the first aid kit from his hand and added it to our bag. I pulled him by the hand and we both ran out the door.
I was terrified and I could tell Austin was too. He was hesitant with every step and wanted to go back. He missed his parents, and I did too, but they would’ve wanted us to stay alive. At least for their sake.
We kept running until we made it to the Alden’s house. I went to the door and began to bang on it. “Come on, open up.” I mumbled frustrated.
“They aren’t home, Marie Alden has dance right now so they probably went to go pick her up.” Said Austin looking back to see if the infected were chasing us.
“Can you jump over their fence?” I asked Austin.
He looked at me confused, “why do you want me to jump their fence you weirdo?”
“They have a treehouse, we could hide out there. Now boost me up.”
Austin helped me get over then he jumped over the fence. We went over to the giant oak tree they have in their backyard and went up the ladder into the treehouse. When I made it all the way up the ladder I was greeted with a friendly shotgun pointed at my forehead.
