“Well then, let’s go.” I say, gathering our stuff while Marie starts the engine.
Me and Austin open the garage door and Marie take the quad out slowly. Tons of zombies start to gather around the fence, attracted to the sound.
“Why are their necks so long?” Asked Austin.
“They probably get like that after a while of being infected, it makes them unable to balance so we could use that to our advantage.” I said.
Me and Austin get onto the quad behind Marie.
“Are you guys comfy?” Marie asks.
“Yea”, both me and Austin reply.
Marie then begins to move slowly then speeds up tons taking through her shortcut. The zombies tried to follow but ended up tripping over each other’s heads. Austin saw as one of their head got squished and buried his head into the bag.
“Austin, it’ll be okay we’ll make out of this wretched island soon!” I say as I turn to look at him
“What’s the point Ruby-May, my parents are dead and all I have as of right now are two teenage girls who I’ve almost never talked to until today” said Austin, his eyes filling with tears. “I have nothing Ruby-May, nothing. I don’t wanna be on the fucking island anymore!” Austin said raising his voice slightly.
“Austin, your parents would’ve wanted you to live and enjoy life. I’ll make you a promise! Once we make it out of here, we’ll stick together. I’ll be there for you! We’ll be like brother and sister and we will care for each other, and we’ll save up the money to have a proper funeral for your parents. How does that sound?” I say looking at Austin. I hold my hand out so he can shake it. Soon enough our hands clasp together and we settle on that agreement.
“How much longer until we get there?” Asked Austin.
“We’re just about there.” Said Marie. She quickly stopped the quad and led us to the house. She grabbed their key from under the door mat and led us inside, shutting the door behind her.
