Once I got to school again, the only thing my body could do was run

Run as fast as I could until I saw the small purple haired girl, Hazel… Was still alive… Thank god…

She was waiting for that guy… Was I wrong? Could it be that she would actually break my heart and give him a chance?

“Calm down Rose, your heartbeats are so loud I can hear them.”

“I’m trying, but…!” Before I could finish complaining, that dude appeared. He had a dumb smug smile on his face that just made me want to punch him.

“So… Your friends really told you to wait for me? I wasn’t expecting for you to show up at all.” He said, Carter seemed as surprised as me that Hazel actually showed up.

“I just wanted to hear what you have to say.” She said, always with a cold tone.

“So… I’ve been checking you out for a while… You try to hide yourself but you’re really pretty. I want to go out with you.”

“That’s it?”

“Well, yeah? What did you expect?”

“I’m sorry, but I have no plans of going out with you.”

“What?”

I thought the same. Was she disappointed by him? I mean, of course such a simplistic declaration couldn’t shake anyone’s heart, but did she really just want to listen to what he had to say, with no intentions of giving him a chance?

“I have no plans of going out with you. Or any of your friends, for that matter.”

“What the hell?! At least tell me why! Melissa said you would definitely..!”

“So it was her who you were counting on to inform you?”

“Well, yeah. She said a loner like you would like to date someone popular so of course I would take the chance!”

“Carter, you’re really bad at reading people, aren’t you? No self respecting person would go out with a guy who never even talked to them once before confessing, it’s pathetic and lacks confidence. You dress like a generic football player and I frankly hate everything about your style. I have absolutely no interest in guys, especially guys like you. And my heart… Already belongs to another.”

This… Was the most I’ve heard Hazel speak to justify herself to someone my whole life…

“You bitch! You ugly loner dorky nerd! Do you think you have the right to reject ME?! I’m captain of the baseball team, all your “friends” you love to have me, they would KILL to have a chance to have me take them to bed, and yet you act like a spoiled brat!”

“Honestly, I’d rather die than going to bed with a disgusting ogre-man like you.”

“...Die then.”

Carter was trembling with madness, he punched the wall close to Hazel, making a hole as big as his fist. What the hell was this guy on?!

“Concentrate yourself Rose, he’s turning into it… Into… The Devouring Wolf…”

“You think you have the right to deny ME?! Well think again you bitch! You’re not getting out of here alive!” His voice started to distort, it was getting deeper and deeper, trying to intimidate the small purple haired girl who just rejected him. That man who seemed more like a beast once again tried to punch her, and once again she dodged it, but his fists were making cracks on the floor and walls, his body was getting more furry, his fists seemed heavier and his eyes were turning red.. Hazel was good at dodging but she couldn’t keep doing it endlessly.

“Anima, please! Just tell me what I need to do! I can’t let that guy beat Hazel!”
“So you’ll become a Destroyer?”

“Just tell me what do I need to do to save her!”

“Hehe, good to see you well behaved. Hold your necklace and repeat after me…” I did just as she said.

“My blood boils with anger and pain.”

“For love burning brightly in red…”

“I’ll destroy everything, and tear emotions to shreds!”

My body was engulfed by a bright pink light coming from the necklace. My hair, usually orange tied in small pigtails, turned fully pink and grew to the length of my hips, my eyes that used to be green also turned pink, and my school uniform turned into a cute pink outfit, with pants, biker gloves and a crop top, I was girlyer than ever but for some reason… It made me confident enough to smash that beast’s head into the wall.

And so I did.

“Just shut up you freak!” I screamed as I smashed his skull against the wall with one single punch. “Oh hello miss Hazel! You’re not hurt in any way, are you?”

“N-no… Just…”

“You could use magical weapons, y’know?” Anima said, getting closer to me.

“Oh, but fists are much more practical.”

“Whatever, as long as you don’t mess up too much…”

“Who… Are you…?” Hazel said, she didn’t seem scared, but not exactly happy either, her face has always been a mystery. But that’s just one of the things I love about her.

“I’m…” I just said what was inside my heart, it was like a voice whispering that name to me. “Heartbreaker Magenta.”

“yOu’Re NoT pAyInG aTtEnTiOn tO mE!!!!!”

That freaking monster that used to be Carter Fullmer screamed, he barely had the form of a human man anymore, seemed like just cracking his skull against a wall wasn’t enough, huh…”

“Use your magical weapon, Magenta! If you want to cause him real damage, you need to use your magic.”

“Sure, sure, how can I…” Just thinking about a weapon made me envision two pink pistols that appeared right in front of me. I had no idea how to use a gun in any way but.. In this form.. It just came naturally.

I shot that thing in the head

IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!

“Hahaha, so you’re screaming right now?! That “macho” gorilla builded man is screaming for help like a little girl! AHAHAHAHAHA! You’re so pathetic.”

I shot him again, just doing it was fine, I jumped high, I shot him every time I could, he tried to take me, to attack me, but he couldn’t.

He was weak.

I was strong.

He couldn’t do ANYTHING to hurt me or Hazel at all.

Just a pathetic blob, a monster man in his true pathetic form.

He tried getting close to me, but he couldn’t. I was faster than him, I was stronger than him. I was better than him in every single way. He could never take Hazel away from me like that.

“Magenta, pay attention! Look at his heart!”

Anima was right, his chest was glowing red… A rancid red light. I stopped shooting and looked at that dying beast. I knew what I needed to do. Just…

Rip his heart away.

“What… Is this?” Inside his body, his heart… It wasn’t a human heart, it was a crystal. A red crystal, glowing and being consumed by a black shadow.

“This is… What made him this way. His feelings of hatred and shame due to being rejected  made the Liebeherrscher activate its power…”

“What do I do with it?”

“It’s your choice, Magenta.”

“...What? What do you mean by that Anima?”

“You’re a Destroyer now. You can choose if you want to destroy or purify his heart.”

“...And what happens after that?”

“Well, it’s not that simple, but… You are free to choose, none of it will make a difference, you just can’t leave this heart looking like this.”

I can… Choose? Anything? This seemed just too good to be true…

But

‘Purifying’ would help him out, right?

It probably would make him a better person, maybe he would think twice before hitting a woman, maybe he could actually turn into a decent guy…

I took that heart, glowing with a bright red light…

And smashed it into pieces.

“There’s no way I’ll help you out, you punk.” All I could feel after looking at that blob of a man was disgust. Turn into a better person? For what? For you to try to get close to Hazel again? No fucking way. No fucking way I’ll help you out.

Getting between me and Hazel is itself a sin.
A sin I wouldn’t forgive.

“You’ve… Destroyed it.” Hazel said, she never even once turned her eyes away from the violent acts I was committing… She seemed more or less impressed by them, really.

“I’m a ‘Destroyer’ after all.” I said with a smile. She would probably be creeped out, but I couldn’t care… I’ve just murdered my first heart. ”Are you mad about it?”

I've done something I couldn't undo

I've broken that man’s heart into pieces…

But…

It was for Hazel.

It was for me and Hazel.

So I would never regret it.

“Not really… He was more of a bother than anything else.”

“That’s something the both of us can agree on.” As those words left my lips, she smiled… For the first time in forever… I could see Hazel Eyre’s smile.

And if that meant murdering a soul, I could do it countless times.
