EXITCODE (english)

Sebastian de Magellan

Sebastian de Magellan

Jun 04, 2025

The sun was beginning to slowly sink behind the leafy trees as Trafalgar, Shadow, Albert, Maxime, Bass, and Arnaud entered the village. The old chief walked beside them, his face worried but peaceful, and the tiger hobbled beside them.

The wooden houses, their roofs covered with woven leaves, seemed to have regained a breath of life. Little by little, faces cautiously peeped out of the doors and windows. The villagers, wary just moments earlier, were now approaching with concern... and above all, curiosity. Some were carrying baskets, others children. All were watching the group attentively.

"It was a misunderstanding," the old chief declared in a strong but gentle voice, placing a hand on the tiger's shoulder. "Everything is back to normal. Our guests are friends."

The villagers exchanged glances. Then they began to whisper among themselves.

Trafalgar raised an eyebrow. He tilted his head toward Shadow.

"Did you notice what they called each other?" Shadow, his eyebrow also raised, looked around with an intrigued expression.

"Brother, cousin, uncle, aunt... Is this a village or a giant family reunion?" Shadow whispered.

The old chief gestured for everyone to follow him toward the center of the village, under the prying eyes of the villagers. After a few minutes of walking under a pink twilight sky, they finally entered the large house in the center of the village. A sort of small castle, carved out of wood and decorated with colorful flags, stood proudly in the heart of the village. Once inside, the guests were guided to a rudimentary but clean bathroom. Women brought them fresh, hand-woven clothes with nautical and forest motifs. Meanwhile, the injured tiger was entrusted to the care of an old herbalist.

Night fell quickly, and the oil lamps were lit. A large table had been set in the main room. Tropical fruits, grilled fish, tasty roots, colorful mushrooms… everything was carefully arranged.

There were many people at the table. The old chief was there, seated in the center, surrounded by several elderly women—his wives. A dozen children laughed as they ran around the room before calmly settling down. The atmosphere, solemn at first, gradually softened. Everyone sat down, then the old man spoke:

"I haven't introduced myself in a while. My name is Solano."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Arnaud," said Arnaud, and the others did the same. Trafalgar, putting a mushroom in his mouth, said:
"I noticed... that everyone calls each other brother, aunt, cousin... That's unusual." »

The old chief smiled gently, watching the flames of a flickering lantern:

— "It's no coincidence. This village was founded by a single man. Our father... Sebastian Magellan."

Silence around the table.

— "Ahh yeah," said Bass, his eyes wide.
_ The best navigator ever added Solano.

The old man nodded slowly.

— "He circumnavigated the world... twice. And at the end of his second voyage, he chose this once-deserted island. He settled there, started a family. A large family."

Albert frowned:

— "Twice around the world... But that's gigantic! It must have taken him decades!"

— "You're right," said Maxime, resting his elbows on the table. "Even once is almost a lifetime." »

The old chief nodded, his eyes shining:

— "It's because our father is... peculiar. He's 204 years old today."

Trafalgar almost spat out what he had just drunk.

— "Wait, WHAT?!" — "Two hundred... what?" stammered Albert. — "That's not human," murmured Arnaud.

The children burst out laughing. The old chief himself laughed. A strange laugh that went "La la la la la la laaa"

— "That's true. He lived a long time. And he had... how can I put this..." He coughed, looking at his wives. "... thirty-three wives." Maxime choked.

— "THIRTY-THREE?!" — "And... how many children?" asked Shadow, half curious, half scared.

— "One hundred and seventy-nine," the old man replied calmly. "And I'm the eldest."

A stunned silence followed.

"Oh yeah. The guy founded an army all by himself, but you should be that old too, right?" Bass breathed. "Uh-huh, yes, I'll be 180 in almost a month." La la la la la la la laaa. "Wow, but you guys have a long life," said Trafalgar. "Yes, it runs in the family," retorted Solano.

Albert burst out laughing, followed by the others. The atmosphere relaxed, lulled by surprise and smiles. Then Arnaud, a little hesitant, asked:

"And... where is he now? Is he still alive?"

The old chief's smile slowly faded. The faces around the table darkened. The children lowered their eyes. Even the tiger, who was lying further away, heaved a heavy sigh.

"I'm sorry,"

SYNOPSIS – EXITCODE

A simple October day. A nearly empty classroom. Six friends, a newly repaired phone... and a notification that will change everything.

In a split second, Trafalgar, Shadow, Maxime, Albert, Arnaud, and Basse are thrust into an unknown digital world: ExitCode. An ultra-realistic game where the danger is real, the rules are merciless, and death... much more than a Game Over.

But they're not alone. Hundreds of others have been sucked in before them. And not all of them have returned.

To hope for escape, there's only one way: gather the five System Keys, scattered across this fractured world. Each key is protected by challenges, factions, and enemies capable of anything to survive.

Betrayals, strategies, powers, mental and physical confrontations.
The game has only just begun.
