Something is Amidst: Henry and His Confusion!

Something is Amidst: Henry and His Confusion!

Jun 06, 2025

It was a morning of a peaceful still in the air. The 15-year-old boy with bronze hair that had brown highlights was lying on his bed in his bedroom casual-like.

He was bathing in the sun's warmth rays, that sneaked through his window with one arm on his forehead and the other one above his head. He was shirtless and only had undershorts on, enjoying the peaceful day in his room.

His room had a desk aligned to his window, beside it was a bed that also aligned to the wall. The walls were painted a grey color, while his floor was of carpet.

A dresser aligned on the wall that was set across the room, yet hangers hung from a small closet that was in the corner of his room. Posters of skulls and bones, scattered across the wall, showing the boy was interested in pirates, undead, and fantasy.

Suddenly the peaceful atmosphere quickly erupted, as the boy's door swung open with urgency and he heard, "Henry! You jerk!" The boy grunted in annoyance as he slammed his arm on the bed and moved his eyes towards his door.

A girl who looked much older than him, almost three years older than him, stood in his doorway half-clothed, wearing just a sports bra and undershorts with an annoyed expression on her face as she stated, "You forgot to do the laundry, you jerk!"

The boy looked back up to his ceiling as he stated with carelessness and annoyance, "It is not my job to do your laundry, sis."

She marched over to him and leaned over him getting in his view as she demanded, "Oh, so what is your job then?" he saw his sister was in his view, and he noticed she was getting ready for something, her freckles spread across her face, her eyes were green and hinted a bit of hazel, and she was blowing up her cheeks as she was annoyed while waiting for an answer from him.

Henry, the boy, looked away slightly as he rubbed his finger along his cheek and he claimed, "Well, my job is to lay here and do nothing."

The girl's face turns red in annoyance as she snaps and smacks him with a pillow while demanding, "Like hell you are! Get up and go outside or something, Geez!"

He blocks the pillow she threw at him, and he quickly rises from his bed, slams the pillow by his side, and states with annoyance, "Why do you care, what I do?"

She walks over and looks through his closet as if she is looking for something for him to wear as she states, "Because I am your sister, and Mom and Dad don't want you sulking inside like a hermit!"

Henry strolls over and grabs a black hoodie from the closet his mouth lines up to her ear as he murmurs in disgust, "Who cares what they think..."

The girl looks back in shock as she snaps, "Henry!"

Henry looks back with his head tilting in a distasteful glare toward her as he snaps back, "What? Why should I care about two lowlifes that are never home!"

The girl gasps and puts her hand to her mouth as she explains their parents' actions, "Henry, They work to put food on the table!"

Henry puts on his hoodie and follows with his black jeans as he adds, "Fine, but all day, it's ludicrous!" he puts his other foot into his jeans as he continues, "If you ask me, they are just avoiding us!"

The girl looks at Henry with concern as he buckles his jeans, before he storms out the door he finishes off with, "Give it time, you too will abandon me."

The girl gasps in shock as she calls out to the boy, "Henry!" but he continues out the door of his room and continues to go downstairs. The girl chases him trying to figure out why he is so angry.

"Henry! Stop, let's talk about this!" she says in a gentle demeanor.

Henry continues by explaining himself, "What is to talk about? It is clear you are planning on going somewhere?"

The girl's expression turns into frustration at how Henry is being unfair as she adds, "Henry, come on! I have a date, can't I not have time to myself some days?"

Henry turns and faces his sister with confusion written on his face as he announces, "Didn't you have a date yesterday? Why do you need to go out again?"

The girl looks onward toward Henry but with a look of confusion as she asks in concern, "Henry? Are you okay? What are you talking about? I haven't gone anywhere yesterday."

The boy looked at her with confusion as he snapped, "Don't play with me, Britteny! I know you went out with your boyfriend yesterday!" he tightened his grip in his pockets rolling his hands into fists. He added finishing the conversation as he was fed up with the confusion, "Bah! Forget it! Enjoy yourself, I will be fine!" He quickly turned around and marched out the door to the outside.

The girl had an expression of worry as she was concerned about Henry. she knew something was wrong as she called out, "Henry, wait! Where are you going!"

Henry answered, "Getting fresh air, that is what you wanted right?" as he slammed the door in anger. Britteny, Henry's sister, looked on with confusion, with a blank expression, yet turned into a concerned look.

"Why did he think I was on a date yesterday?" she asked out loud in concern. "I hope he is truly okay, perhaps mom and Dad are working too much affecting him more than I thought," she added in concern. She continued to get ready for her date, yet what Henry said burned into her mind.
