Katsuragi stood on his apartment balcony, the sigil of Creation in his hand. The intricate design gleamed faintly in the sunlight, its delicate lines pulsating with an enigmatic glow. He couldn't take his eyes off it, the weight of Tian Yi's words still fresh in his mind.
"Why give me this?" he muttered.
"What does she want from me?"
The city stretched out before him, its hum of life faint in the distance. Yet, Katsuragi's mind was far from calm. His thoughts raced with questions and doubts, a storm he couldn't quiet.
A knock on the door startled him from his reverie. Turning, he found Lucia leaning casually against the frame, her white hair catching the light.
"Staring at that thing again?"
She asked, stepping inside without invitation.
Katsuragi sighed.
"Do you ever knock and wait for an answer?"
Lucia smirked.
"Where's the fun in that? Besides, Carmira said you've been acting weird since you met Tian Yi. Now I see why."
Her gaze landed on the sigil. "So, what's the deal with that?"
Katsuragi held it up, showing the sigil to her.
"She said it's part of my path. That it'll help me understand what I need to become."
Lucia raised an eyebrow.
"And what do you think you need to become?"
".... human, somehow... I regain the memories that weren't mine."
Lucia's smirk faded, her eyes narrowing. "You are already human, Katsuragi. Do you mean to become more humane?"
His grip on the sigil tightened.
"I guess."
Lucia crossed her arms, her voice sharp. "Come with me."
Katsuragi confused.
"Where?"
"I'm going to show you something,"
She said, grabbing his arm.
"Meet me at my training ground. You need to be prepared for something bigger than just learning about humanity."
Reluctantly, Katsuragi followed. The walk to Lucia's secluded training ground was uneventful, save for the occasional quip from her about his brooding silence.
When they arrived, Katsuragi found himself in a wide clearing surrounded by towering trees. The air was heavy with an unspoken tension.
"Welcome to my little sanctuary."
Lucia said, gesturing around while crossing her arms.
"Let's see if your hunger for power can handle what I have planned."
Katsuragi narrowed his eyes.
"Since when have I talked about my hunger for power?"
Lucia unsheathed a pair of glowing daggers, their edges shimmering with a soft, ethereal light.
"Katsuragi, part of you does want to be more human, but another part of you is also hungry for power. And I'm worried that part of you will take over your mind."
Katsuragi hesitated, then summoned his scythe. Without another word, he lunged at her, the blade slicing through the air with lethal precision.
Lucia dodged effortlessly, her movements fluid and calculated.
"Is that all you've got? Come on, Katsuragi, show me this 'power' you're so desperate for!"
Katsuragi's strikes grew more aggressive, seeping into his movements.
"Fine, I will go all out. But don't cry if you're hurt anyway."
He growled, his voice remained calm, yet there was a little anger in him.
Slash!
Lucia countered with a swift strike, her dagger grazing his side.
"Power isn't about brute strength,"
She said sharply. "It's about control. Right now, you're nothing more than a storm without direction."
Her words struck a nerve, and Katsuragi's aura flared. Shadows writhed around him as his frustration mounted.
"Oh great, now I feel like coming back to school and getting lectured by the teacher. Guess what? I don't need to get lectured now."
Lucia's expression darkened, her next strike knocking him off balance. She stood over him, her gaze piercing.
"Argh!"
"And what happens when your strength becomes a threat to the people you're trying to protect? What happens when you can't control it?"
Katsuragi froze, her words hitting him like a blade.
Lucia knelt beside him, her tone softening. "Power is a tool, Katsuragi. It's not an answer. If you let it consume you, you'll lose sight of what really matters. You'll lose yourself."
He sat up, his breath heavy. "I know... but, I guess you also need to be.. slightly sly right?"
"Huh? What do you mean?"
Lucia was a little confused, but she realized that Katsuragi was actually setting a trap. Katsuragi summons a chain made of shadows. This caused Lucia's hands and feet to be trapped.
"Checkmate."
Katsuragi smiled slyly and put the dagger aside. Meanwhile, Lucia could only laugh a little because she was amazed by Katsuragi's cunning.
For the first time, Katsuragi noticed the sigil's glow had dimmed, its light steady but faint. He looked at it, but the light went out again.
Lucia smiled faintly.
"You've got a long way to go, but I'll help you get there. Just remember: strength isn't about how much you can destroy-it's about how much you can protect without losing yourself."
