It was the day after Thaymor; the Horde was on edge.
Doc and Shadow Weaver found ways to take it out on the soldiers (especially the cadets), nobody knew how Hordak was doing (as usual), the soldiers were terrified of this new princess (those who weren't there of the rumors) and Impulse was...
confused.
When he saw Adora fighting for the Rebellion instead of against it, he should have felt angry, betrayed even.
So why did he want to join her?
The light of three full moons cascaded in through the grated skylight of Tango-B's sleeping quarters.
"Can't sleep either, huh?" Bdubs whispered to Imp from the top bunk.
"No," Impy replied.
A moment of silence stretched into quite a few. From where Impulse was sitting, the moonlight made a halo of Bdubs' scruffy hair.
"Sooo," Bdubs began awkwardly, "Thaymor, huh?"
"Heh, yeah, pretty crazy," Imp said tiredly.
'If I don't say it now, I might never,' he thought.
"...I can tell you anything, right?" Impy began hesitantly.
B's smile faltered, "Of course."
There was tension in this pause.
Imp had started, now he thought he ought to finish.
He inhaled. "I think I wanna join the Rebellion."
Bdubs looked at him, unable to speak.
"That," he said slowly, "was probably one of the worst things you could have said."
Imp started visibly panicking.
"Hold on, wait BUT you know I'm always here for you, and..."
Impy looked up at him almost pleadingly.
"I support you, you know I do, but the Horde is my home."
Impulse's face fell, "But you hate this place as much as I do!"
"Yeah, but I'm not ready to just... flip sides like that. Besides, if I'm not there, Martyn'll probably try to become the new Hordak," he joked.
Impy laughed despite everything.
"Wh- If we see eachother in the field, we'll promise now that we'll go over to the sidelines, out of sight and just catch up." Imp said.
"Promise," Bdubs reached down a pinkie.
Impulse took it, "Promise."
The sad beauty of the moment was thrown out the window by Bdubs immediately almost falling off the bed.
Plans were made:
They'd steal a skiff between dawn and midnight tomorrow night, Bdubs would go as far as the Wood's edge to drop Impulse off at Bright Moon.
It filled Imp's dreams and nightmares when he eventually got to sleep.
A Hermitcraft-Life series/ SheRa and the Princesses of Power crossover au that I'm also posting on my Tumblr, BlackCatInABucketHat.
War is ravaging the planet of Etheria, between the Horde and the Rebellion. When paths that some would say were never meant to cross do, will these heroes have what it takes to defeat the true side of evil and finally end the war?
