Ken's POV:
I take the rest of the day off and decide to turn off my phone. I don't think talking to anyone is a good idea right now. Me and Bella decide to explore the city. I only came to this College in Virginia to become a lawyer, It a goodish school that was some-what affordable.
I need to work tomorrow though, shit, I hope Lyle doesn't come down.
Later I went back to my dorm, I was waiting for Oliver my roommate to get out of his afternoon classes. He eventually came back, Oliver is on the bigger side, and has blonde hair. I think that he's a bit self-conscious about his weight, he doesn't talk much, and he's super shy.
"H-hey Ken!" Oliver greets me as he enters from the outside, "I have some takeout if you'd like it."
"No thanks, I already ate," I lied, I've been lying to Bella too. I can't eat much or I feel fat. In the wise words of my mother 'No one loves a fat cow'.
"O-oh, sorry, I should have texted you beforehand, I'll eat the rest tomorrow," he looked so sad, I feel bad. I'm such a bad friend.
"Please, you're fine, how about we watch a movie while you eat?" I asked him. He perked up, and we watched a funny movie, I really don't remember what it was, all I was thinking during the movie was what Bella had told me.
"Go apologize,"
The next day
I walked down the hall in the evening, Lyle's classes were in the afternoon, or in the morning. And my work at the diner is only in the morning. I took a deep breath, raised my fist and- The door opened, a groggy short man with spilt dye hair, one side and dark pink, the other black, but I assumed that the black side was his natural hair color.
"Who- Wait you're the guy who blackmailed me!" I recognized him, his name is Marcus, and yes I blackmailed him for a house key. No I won't say what I blackmailed him on.
"H-hey Marcus," I would like to mention that Marcus has severe anger issues, and that he has gotten into fights with guys bigger than me, and he's won every time. No one tries him, or gets on his bad side. Fuck.
"Are you here to bother Lyle, or are you here to blackmail me again?" Marcus looked at me, his brown eyes scanned me sharply.
"I left my tie in there," I'm 100% lying, I never leave my ties anywhere, everything else is fair game to lose.
"Fine," Marcus grabs my current tie, it's yellow, and pulls me down to his level, "But you fucking mess with my friend, and I'll beat your ass all across campus." I know that was not a threat, it was a promise.
"I mean it, you left him, he canceled all of his classes next week, he hasn't eaten anything, I tried cooking something yesterday. He loves my cooking. He won't even tell me what happened, what did you fucking do?" his tone was quiet in the beginning , then got progressively angrier.
I snuck in the dorm after Marcus let off another tangent. I looked around, it was getting cluttered, it was never cluttered this badly. Lyle loves cleaning. I spot a lump in Lyle's bed, it was big enough that I'm assuming that it's Lyle. The lump shifted and a tuff of brown hair emerged.
"Marcus is that you? I thought you left for classes?" he moved a bit more and I saw his face outlined in his blankets. One glance at his face and you would see right under his green eyes there was dark eyebags and he looked like he had just been in his bed and crying for a while at this point.
"Oh... I texted you..." Lyle looked like he'd been punched.
"Lyle I'm so fucking sorry, I didn't think. Listen I don't want to hurt you anymore than you already are, but I want to explain myself for running away..." I told him the story from when I was a kid.
"Oh god, I'm so sorry, that sounded awful," he said in a worried voice. He look like he wanted to cry again.
Don't make him cry. I don't think I can handle seeing him cry.
"It's not your fault, my dad's just a dick. I'm so sorry for running," I said. I wanted to fix our friendship but if he didn't I'd be fine. It only matters what Lyle wants. I really just don't want to be like my dad...
"Can we try to start over? Hi, I'm Lyle, who's really gay for men," Lyle says shuffling out of his blanket coccon, wiped his eyes and extened his hand.
I laugh, "Hi, I'm Kenneth, you can call me Ken. I'm not a model who's girlfriend is a hot blonde in their dream house. Although, my girlfriend is a hot blonde."
"Oh, you have a partner?" Lyle asks.
"Yep! Her name is Belle," I say.
We talk for a long time, Lyle laughs a lot. His eyes light up and nose crinkles, he looks and sounds so cute. I'm so glad to be his friend. Marcus comes back and looks relived that Lyle had re-heated some food and was happy. His cold death glare was more soft than beforehand.
I'm happy.
