It's Monday afternoon, and I've finished my classes and work. I open the door to my dorm to talk.
I step in, remove my shoes (like a normal human being), and check out who's in the dorm.
There are two people I don't recognize. One of them looks East Asian, with glasses and short curly hair, and the other seems to be Lyle's sister, who has purple hair styled into a bun. They are engaged in a conversation with Lyle, who seems to be bouncing off the walls.
And there's Tom and Ken.
Of course, there's fucking Ken.
"Marcus!" Lyle jumps up from the communal couch and pauses talking to the purple-haired girl, and starts walking over to me. He looks down at me, his green eyes sparkling and full of joy.
"Who's all here?" I ask.
Lyle groans and starts muttering about how stupid he is for not telling me this earlier.
I learn that the two people I don't recognize are Iris, his sister, and she's around six feet, she's roughly the same height as Lyle. Iris has Griffin's green eyes and a parental personality. Then there's Echo; they're quiet and stick by Iris. The two are dating.
We nod to each other, acknowledging that we were both dragged into this and were not leaving anytime soon.
Ken eyes me warily and keeps his distance. Good. I hope he suffers.
Some idiot brought booze, and Lyle has been chugging like it's his life depends on it. I'm going to strangle the person when I find out who it is.
I was about to stop him when Tom wandered over and...
How tall is he?! I thought Lyle was tall; Tom just towers over me.
He notices me and waves. His stupid smile makes his dimples cave in his face. His eyes glint as though he had a mischievous thought.
He continues to grin down at me and then starts to chat my ear off about random shit. I don't mind. If I remember correctly, he's 18. For his age, his voice is rich and deep. I could listen to him all day.
Lyle comes back over and starts smiling and giggling, "Aren't you two getting along? Wow, how nice, I think I could share with you, Marcus. Maybe, Tommy boy, if you're good, I could check if Marcus likes guys, but aren't you st-"
"Lyle shut the hell up," Tom interrupts. He looks upset and pissed. His brow furrows just a bit when he realizes that Lyle is drunk.
I now know that I don't like a drunk Lyle.
I roll my eyes and drag Tom to my room so we can continue talking without Lyle doing weird shit.
"Wow, uh, so this is your room?" Tom asks."Yeah, I thought you might want to talk without drunk Lyle coming in here. You looked uncomfortable," I state nonchalantly.ntly.
I start noticing that he's slightly flustered when he continues on his story about this one teacher who accidentally almost burnt down the school.
"Mhm, Really? That's cool," I said. "Yeah, he tried to mix hydrogen and oxygen, then it blew up, and he started screaming..."g..." Tom kept taking, but I zoned out, just started staring at him.
I want to grab his hair and shove him down to my level. My fingers tingle thinking about how it would feel to have his thick hair intertwined with my hand.
He looked like a puppy. Wide eyes, looking at me as though he wants me to pat him and call him a good dog.
Eventually, everyone had to go. I wished everybody goodnight, except Ken. The bitch. Hate him.
I have to deal with wasted Lyle and put him to bed.
He started crying in the shower, something about Ken again.
Lyle Griffin changes colleges and tries to blend in while making friends. Kenneth Mendoza wants to become a lawyer and support his little sister. Marcus Foxx just wants to become successful and have his mom come to the states, but what happens if he can't do that? Oliver Grey wants to be skinny. Alex Kumar wants to be seen. Watch them and others struggle to float in their early adulthood, and how far will you go for the people you love.
