The first couple of days passed by uneventfully. The girl didn't wake up, Lucian and Cupid got closer, and they tried to get to know the reluctant Vermillion. Most of their efforts were in vain though as he avoided them and hardly said more than one sentence in a row. Eventually the fourth day rolled around and Cupid and Lucian began to realize that something was up.
Have you seen Vermillion anywhere Lucian asked as Cupid was smelling random jars of dried flowers. Nope Cupid shrugged, haven't seen Yew either. I've searched everywhere.. except.. Lucian hesitated and turned to the curtain, why don't they ever let us in there. Cupid put down a jar of lavander and glanced over. No idea, but nothing's stopping you from taking a peak he suggested. I guess you're right Lucian sighed. He stepped carefully over to the curtain while Cupid watched with intrigue. Peering in, the room was dimly lit, and Lucian could see three cots, one of which was occupied by the girl. Over on the opposite side was a large cabinet and a table. Sitting at the table was Vermillion and standing over him was Yew. That wasn't the concerning part though. Yew had a scalpel and was pressing it against Vermilion's neck. Panic rushed through Lucian and he didn't even think before he shoved the curtain out of the way and screamed. Cupid snapped up to see what was going on, just as Yew's hand slipped, slicing deep and right through Vermilion's carotid artery.
