A soul that embraces chaos can ignite the world”
Fields are usually green aren't they? But this one wasn't. Once it had whispered with grass and the chirps of midday birdsong, but now it lay bare—desecrated. Soil blackened by fire. Air thick with the iron stench of blood. The dead sprawled across it like scattered memories, their bodies twisted, armor cracked, limbs cleaved. Swords rusted in clenched fists. Shields, some scorched, some pierced, dotted the wreckage like forgotten promises.
Kyo stood amidst the carnage, unmoving.
He didn’t flinch at the corpses, though some still wore expressions of agony—eyes frozen in terror, jaws locked mid-scream. He had seen worse. He had done worse. But it wasn’t the dead that chilled him. It was the silence. Not just the absence of life—but the echo of something greater, something hollow.
His boots sank into damp soil. He felt the squelch of it, warm and thick with blood. His hands, red and slick, trembled slightly. The sky above, once a canvas of hope, loomed grey and uncaring.
A flicker of movement—too sudden. He turned.
A corpse shifted.
No, not a corpse. A memory. The child’s face wasn’t truly there. But the shock of it jarred him awake.
“Wake up. Wake up.”
Kyo blinked. Light rushed in.
It wasn't the lifeless form that startled him, but the presence of a young boy that jolted Kyo awake. His nightmarish reverie had come to an end. Glancing about, he realized he had inadvertently drifted into sleep. Four other passengers occupied seats in the futuristic vehicle that encapsulated them in a sleek and compact design. The interior boasted white embellishments, and a panoramic view of space unfolded before them.
"Awake at last, are we? Has the weight of the years finally caught up with you?" quipped Leon, a self-assured youth sporting sharp yellow hair and a distinctive green jacket. Intriguingly, half of his visage was concealed beneath cybernetic enhancements.
Hermione, the purple extraterrestrial, interjected, "Hey, that's hardly the way to welcome an additional crew member!" Her striking yellow eyes, coupled with two lengthy horns and a tail terminating in a heart-shaped tip, added to her otherworldly charm. Clad in a sleek black armored suit, her neatly tied white hair cascaded down in a well-kept ponytail.
Now, now. Cease your bickering, you two," intervened Jacob, a bald, robust figure with a deep brown complexion. Towering over the others, he exuded an air of menace, courtesy
of his elf ears, sharp troll jaw, and, most notably, his prodigious belly. His right arm, replaced by a robotic counterpart, added to his imposing presence.
Beside Kyo stood Hikari, garbed in black robes, her dark blue hair framing a face adorned with glasses. Clad solely in a mage robe, she exuded an air of mystique. "Are you all right?" she inquired with genuine concern.
"I'm fine. Just reminiscing about some unpleasant memories... The kid has a point. Old age seems to be catching up," Kyo admitted. In stark contrast to the fantastical features of the others, Kyo maintained a more mundane appearance—dark blue hair, light blue eyes, and a slightly disheveled goatee adorned his face, while his attire, a simple white shirt and blue pants, hinted at wear and tear.
Hikari sought to reassure him, saying, "Hey now, don't harbor such thoughts. Approaching 40 isn’t old, and considering his level..." She tapped her glasses, prompting a system window to materialize before her.

“Woah! you still have so many Meto points Hikari!” Hermoine said with an enthusiastic tone.
“Tsk. You still hide your other stats and skills. Such a wuss” retorted Leon.
“ I…I just don’t like to show mine. It embarasses me.” Hikari said, fidgeting her fingers.
“Relax we all know you shoved all your points to Faith and Intelligence”
Hikari almost got teary eyed from hearing Leon’s harsh words.
“Leon!” Hermoine was ready to hit him when Jacob pushed her back down.
“Now now. Lets not fight here. We are a crew remember. No mutiny amongst ourselves.”
He looked back at Kyo and glanced towards Hikari and said,
“Let's just get back to the real topic. We diverged from it too much. Mr Kyo. Your stats if you don’t mind?”
Kyo didn’t detest the idea. He personally didn’t give a shit for such mindless quarrels. He swiped his hand as the system Window appeared before him.

“Are you kidding me?!” Leon exclaimed with disappointment.
“Hey now. It's not that…bad” Hikari couldn't actually defend those stats.
“It sure hell is! Make sure you don’t hold us back, old man,” said Leon, swinging his revolver.
“For the record I’m a level 27 Marksman. I don’t need to show my stats. I know I can take you down with a single bullet. All of us except for Hikari are above level 20. So don’t think about trying anything funny.”
“Hey now. Calm down Leon!” said Jacob.
“Sorry Mr Kyo. Since you had to join us as an extra member it must be difficult for you to work with us” said Hikari.
“It's Alright, I'll try my best,” Kyo said with a reluctant smile.
The small microphone on the top of the room lit up.
“Listen up, you mercenary rascals. We are approaching sector 18, the MilkyWay galaxy. Be prepared for landing”
“Still can’t believe life even exists in this corner of the universe,” said Leon.
Leon looked as if he felt bored with everything. His eyes lacked excitement, which was a direct contrast to that of Hermoine.
“I like this feeling. A sense of wonder and discovery. What did they call it? Earth was it?”
Kyo looked through his window to see their ship was getting closer to the planet. His body was motionless, while his eyes were void of emotions.
“We’re landing at the last known location of the Meto spike,” said the pilot.
“Finally,” Leon said, getting up. He went close to the hangar.
The rest got ready behind him.
“I’ll be picking you guys back within 3 days at 10 pm Earth time. If you aren’t there within 1 hour, I will consider you all dead and leave. Is that clear?”
“Sheesh, talk about being dramatic,” said Leon, jumping down to the city below. Following him, the rest jump as well. Kyo pulled his brown cloak and wrapped it around him. He wasn’t enthusiastic about this at all. To him, it was just another job to get by, after all.
