“Ah, Kihyeon!" shouted Tian from a distance. After enduring such a long morning, he finally got to see the person who had confessed his love to him on their last day at school. Kihyeon ignored him and immediately turned to walk away. Damn, I forgot we'd be working together, he thought.
"Kihyeon~ Are you shy?" Tian called out playfully as he ran toward him. Tep. Tian caught Kihyeon by the wrist. "Ow," Kihyeon hissed.
"I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"I already told you that the box wasn't from me to you!" Kihyeon's voice echoed loudly. All eyes turned to them. Tian's face fell with guilt-he hadn't meant for things to go like this. Kihyeon's expression was visibly upset: his brows furrowed deeply, and his teeth clenched in frustration.
“Tian, Kihyeon! Ah, there you are,” called out Haerin – the Director of the Hospital. Kihyeon forcefully released Tian’s grip, holding his own wrist to ease the pain caused by Tian.
“Good morning, Kwak Byeongwonjang-nim!” greeted Tian. Kwak Haerin, the Hospital Director, was also a close friend of Tian’s father who had offered Tian a job as a doctor. Ever since Tian’s parents divorced, Haerin had been the one helping his father raise Tian.
“Oh dear, Tian. Just call me Haerin like you used to,” replied Haerin. Tian shook his head, remembering the past.
“No, I’m not allowed to call hyung by name anymore…” Tian explained. Haerin burst out laughing, remembering how Tian used to always call him by his real name without any honorifics.
In the past, Tian had become a school delinquent because he never received the full love and care of his parents. Since he was a child, his parents were constantly fighting and often left him alone. As a result, Tian sought attention by causing trouble at school. And yes, it worked—his parents began to show more concern for him. However, everything changed when he reached high school. His mother could no longer handle the responsibility of raising him and eventually gave up. After that incident, Tian fell into a deep depression and attempted suicide at least eight times within the span of six months.
