Gomu sat outside a large set of doors. She was sat in a chair surrounded by Guards, who were all armed. Needly to say she was nervous. Beyond nervous. The reason she tagged along was that they figured it was safer than leaving her behind, as they didn’t expect to have to fight. Her heart was going a million miles a second, and she felt like she’d faint any second…just then, the large doors opened slowly. Behind them was a woman. A Geisha. She went up to one of the Guards, and the two whispered something to each other. After they exchanged words, the Geisha nodded, and stepped back, before the Guard turned to the others.
“Let’s go.” He said, sharply. “Modosu’s orders.”
The Guards all got up and exitted the room, likely to guard the entrance to where they were. The Geisha started to go back through the large doors, before she stopped and turned to Gomu.
“It isn’t comfortable out here. Please come in.” The Geisha, Modosu replied. Her tone was soft and polite.
Gomu, as ordered, got up and followed her in. It was a large Bedroom, and pretty lavish. As to be expected from the leader of the Kaminokaze Family. On the large bed, an older man was laying. He was hooked up to medical equipment, including an oxygen mask. Modosu walked over, and put on a glove before gently touching the man’s cheek.
“Don’t touch him…you might get infected, dear.” Modosu said to Gomu. “Poor Mr. Kaminokaze…and poor Kakoku. He blames himself so much for what was an accident…”
Gomu took a step away from the bed upon hearing “infected”, and bumped into a large table with a blanket draped over it. Modosu immediately looked over. The blanket had shifted, revealing something underneath. Curiously, Gomu felt it. It was smooth and soft, but also thick. She couldn’t fully see what it was…
“What is this…?” Gomu questioned. “It feels weird…”
“Skin.” Modosu replied.
“EUGH!!” Gomu gagged, and immediately recoiled, rubbing her hand off on her shirt aggressively. “GROSS GROSS GROSS!”
Modosu chuckled, and pulled the blanket back over it. “To be more specific, it’s part of the ‘Mysterious Corpse’.”
Gomu looked at her confused, so Modosu continued,
“The Mysterious Corpse is the body of an extremely powerful Aura Manipulator. One said to be unrivaled in the Past, Present, and Future, though their identity was wholly lost.” Modosu explained. “It was split into multiple parts upon their death, however each piece retains a great deal of Power and Potential within. Honestly, it takes a lot to get your hands on one.”
“So…you can like, attach them to yourself to get stronger?” Gomu questioned, visibly disturbed. “Sounds disgusting…”
“Not exactly…” Modosu replied. “The parts of the Mysterious Corpse are attracted to certain people like Moths to a Flame. They seek out people who resonate with them, though no one understands exactly how it works, or what they look for. When they find them, they’ll bond to them and can’t be removed until the current bearer is deceased.”
“Well…that explains why none of you have absorbed it…” Gomu replied. “Guess they won’t take just anybody…”
Modosu lead Gomu over to a chair, and sat her down, while handing her a cup of tea. Gomu hesitantly took a drink from it. Tasted normal. Well, it tasted like really quality tea, but compared to what she’d been forced to drink before, it was pretty normal. Modosu went back over to the bed, and her Aura formed around her, basking her in a yellow light. She held her hands over Mr. Kaminokaze, and his body began to shine. This continued for a minute, before it stopped. Modosu checked the machines, then crossed something off on a List she had beside the bed.
“My ability is to Heal. I can heal injuries and diseases, even better than Aura Regeneration.” Modosu explained. “I can heal him from Kakoku’s virus, but I can only heal one System at a time, and with there being mandatory time between each Heal, it takes a full day for me to heal one of his body Systems…”
Gomu nodded, and sipped her tea again. Just then, a light flashed in the room, as Kotsukikan appeared, gripping his missing hand.
“Agh…passed out…few minutes ago.” Kotsukikan groaned, leaning on a shelf to stability.
Gomu noticed his arm looked like it was torn by teeth, and she could only picture Taberu’s maw upon seeing it. It made her wince at the thought…
Modosu hurried over to Kotsukikan, and held his arm. She used her ability to help him regrow it. They watched as it regrew from the nerves, then bones, muscles, and finally the skin and nails.
“Shame you can’t rejuvinate us…it’d be nice to get back in the fight.” Kotsukikan said, a bit grumpily.
“Kotsu.” Modosu said, clasping her hands. “I think it’s time we stop.”
“That isn’t your call, Modo.” Kotsukikan replied. “Yokunai’s in charge while the boss is-”
“Yokunai is unconscious. I can sense it in his Aura.” Modosu replied, now crossing her arms. “So who’s in charge if Yokunai and Mr. Kaminokaze are out of commission?”
Kotsukikan hesitated, thought for a moment, then groaned. He used his ability to teleport the other Executives into the room. Most of them were still unconscious, with some like Kakoku and Kani still conscious but unable to move well. Upon seeing the boss in bed, Kakoku shrank away, holding his gloved hand tightly. Modosu went over and began helping them up, and into Chairs so they could rest before being healed. Gomu, seeing Modosu struggle to move some of them on her own, got up and went to help, as she lifted up Kani.
“Your friend is a bitch.” Kani groaned, still paralyzed.
“...Gonna have to be more specific.” Gomu replied.
“The bug one.” Kani responded, as Gomu sat her in one of the comfortable chairs.
Gomu then helped up Sandman, who she believed was unconscious. However, upon being lifted, he made a strange noise, which startled her. It sounded like a nervous chuckle, followed by him lifting up his sleeves to cover the mouth of his hood.
“Sorry about Sandman.” Modosu said, as she helped Yokunai into a chair. “He’s awkward in general, but especially with women.”
“Honestly he’s a weirdo.” Kakoku said, grumpily. “Doesn’t even talk, so it’s a mystery what’s going on in his head.”
Gomu chuckled a little as she sat Sandman down. He then sat up, and brought his hand out of his sleeve. He reached up and plucked a button from his sack hood, before handing it to her. Gomu took it, a bit confused.
“That’s how he expresses gratitude.” Modosu explained.
“O-oh…thank you!” Gomu said to Sandman, who nodded.
As Modosu went to heal Kakoku, the door slowly opened. Everyone turned towards it in an instant. Enjo walked in, with his hands in his pockets, and closed the door behind him.
“You! How’d you get past the guards?!” Kani questioned.
“They’re alive.” Enjo replied, bluntly. “Just knocked out. I go easy on people who don’t use Aura.”
Enjo turned to Modosu, who took a step back. Enjo took his hands out of his pockets and did a slight bow, before returning to normal.
“Nice to meet you.” Enjo said, politely. “I was hoping to talk with Mr. Kaminokaze, but I’ve come to understand the situation is more complicated than we thought.”
As he said this, Fumetsu entered the room as well. He and Kakoku both glared at each other for a second.
“Fumetsu explained to me what your Doctor told him. Including about the Ryoshi Family.” Enjo explained. “And y’know what…it’s got me pretty heated. I think I wanna kill those assholes.”
Fumetsu nudged Enjo’s shoulder, getting his attention. He then pointed to Gomu.
“Oh, sorry. You okay, Gomu?” Enjo asked, approaching her and checking her face. “You don’t look hurt. Did they treat you alright?”
“I-I’m alright, Enjo.” Gomu replied. “Guess they knew I was kinda useless…”
“Well.” Enjo replied. “...I guess being useless is pretty useful.”
