Episode 2

INSIDE - SPACE CELL

Earl is shooketh.

EARL - (shocked) “You’re...joking right? I mean—you can’t not be a human..!”

Fenneco just stares at him and tilts her head a bit.

FENNECO - “Why not? Blub.”

EARL - (a bit stunned) “U-uh...I guess...there’s no...”

He thinks for a bit, still trying to grapple with the situation.

EARL - (slowly)“So like...what are you then..? Are you an...an alien?”

Fenneco thinks for a moment and nods softly.

FENNECO - (thoughtfully) “I suppose...that is what humans would refer to us.”

Earl is very stumped, and after a bit of silence.

FENNECO - “...Blub blub.”

EARL - “Why are you still saying that?”

FENNECO - “I...thought it would make you more comfortable.”

EARL - (confused) “Why would you think that??”

FENNECO - “You...last referred me as a fish”

EARL - (skeptical) “And you thought that because of that, you making fish sounds would make me comfortable?”

FENNECO - “I apologize...it seems I am incorrect.”

EARL - (laughs) “Hah, I’d say.”

Earl stares down at the children's book and smiles back at her. Fenneco blushes a bit again. Suddenly, Earl's stomach starts growling.

EARL - (thoughts) Well...I haven’t really eaten for...oh. (speaking) “When do we go home..?”

Fenneco pauses for a moment.

FENNECO - “I am...not certain.”

EARL - “Ugh. Right. Fine, we’ll settle that later, do you have food?”

Fenneco tilts her head a bit.

FENNECO - “What?”

EARL - (a bit hangry) “Ugh! Food! Like...pizza or something? I don’t know, something to sustain me!”

FENNECO - (slowly) “Sustain...like subsistence? I do believe we have that...”

EARL - (lights up a bit) “Can you go get that for me? Or better yet, bring me?”

FENNECO - (unsure) “I do not think that is a good idea...I would be defying protocol.”

Earl gets more annoyed but smirks.

EARL - (a bit cocky) “Didn’t you break protocol just by looking at me?”

FENNECO - “...That...is true.”

EARL - “See? So you should let me!”

FENNECO - (thinking) “Hm...alright. You must stay near me, affirmative?”

EARL - (excited) “yeah yeah, affirmative or whatever..!”

Fenneco nods her head and motions for him to take a step back as she disables the barrier keeping him inside the cell. He gets out and stares at the hallway, it seems to be endless.

EARL - (thoughts) It...doesn’t really seem like I can run... (speaking) “lead the way—!”

FENNECO - (quiet and firm) “Shush. Do not talk loudly.”

Earl nods slowly and follows her silently down the hall, still seeing nothing but white. A little unsure he looks back to his cell, but he can no longer see it anymore. They continue walking quietly.
