Marin, her eyes sparkling with an almost mischievous energy, gestured towards a cluster of coral formations that seemed to shimmer with an inner light. "Come on," she said, her voice a melodic whisper that seemed to carry effortlessly through the water. "There's a cave here, a place Corina, Cyrus, and I use when we need to talk comfortably, away from Mother's more... boisterous moods. I think we could use it right now." She gave Percy and Annabeth a knowing look. "It’s surprisingly dry inside, once you get past the initial currents."

Percy, though still uneasy, nodded. The tension from Kymopoleia's recent erratic behavior hung heavy in the water, and Marin's suggestion of a private space was welcome. They were almost at the cave's shimmering entrance when a subtle shift occurred... Moments later, the true chaos began. Marin’s innocent smile had barely faded when a fresh wave of raw power surged through the very expanse of the arena they stood in , deep beneath the seabed.. It wasn’t a strong current, not yet, but a strange, wild pulse that seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere at once. Percy, ever attuned to the sea, felt it as a distant thrum, easily dismissed as a new eddy.

But Marin's eyes widened, her playful demeanor instantly replaced by sharp alertness. "Watch out!" she yelled, her voice suddenly strained. A powerful, unseen surge of water, cold and violent, materialized without warning, aiming directly for Annabeth. Percy reacted instantly, pushing Annabeth, but the current was too fast, too strong. It latched onto Annabeth, pulling her violently towards a sharp, jagged rock formation. Marin, however, was swifter. In a blur of motion, she spun, harnessing a counter-current that even Percy hadn't sensed, and with a powerful thrust, intercepted Annabeth, shunting her safely behind Percy just as the rogue wave crashed against the coral.

"What was that?" Annabeth gasped, shaken.

Marin's face was grim. "Mother's currents are changing. Growing... wilder."

Moments later, the true chaos began. Marin’s innocent smile had barely faded when a fresh wave of raw power surged through the arena, deep beneath the seabed. It felt like the very foundation of Kymopoleia’s domain was groaning under immense pressure, echoing the message of "chaos' maw" in Percy's mind.

Percy glanced at Annabeth. Her eyes were wide, scanning the colossal, magically contained waves and the jagged rock formations that formed the arena. "The instability Triton warned about," she murmured, her voice tight. "It's escalating."

"So, why are you two here?" Cyrus interrupted, his voice a low sneer, his dark eyes fixed on Percy. His gaze flickered to Riptide, then Annabeth's dagger. "Troubleshooters? Heroes? Or just lost?" There was a challenge in his tone, a subtle test of their reputation.

"Triton sent us," Percy stated calmly, trying to project a sense of authority. "He asked us to assess the situation. Your mother's domain is... unsettled."

Cyrus let out a short, humorless laugh. "Unsettled? This is Kymopoleia. Her heart beats in every storm. She wants chaos, she gets chaos! And who are you to tell us what to do, hero?".

Before they could respond, a faction of older, more traditional Tritons burst into the arena, not loyalists to Kymopoleia, but rather those attempting to restore order, perhaps under Triton's indirect command. They were formidable, clad in ancient, barnacle-encrusted armor, wielding long, heavy tridents, and they moved with a grim, disciplined purpose. Their eyes, however, held a weary resignation, as if they were accustomed to this volatile environment.

"Stop this madness, children of the storm!" one of them bellowed, his voice carrying surprising authority even underwater. "Your mother's fury threatens to shatter this realm!"

Cyrus scoffed, his eyes blazing with his typical arrogance, even amidst the growing tremors. "Madness? This is our birthright! She wants chaos, she gets chaos! And who are you to tell us what to do, old man?" He launched a volley of razor-sharp water projectiles at the elder Tritons, ignoring Percy and Annabeth for the moment.

"Stay behind me!" Percy yelled at Annabeth, uncapping Riptide. The fight was immediate and brutal. The Tritons were strong, their blows powerful, but their movements were clumsy, driven by rage rather than skill. Percy danced around their swings, parrying with practiced ease.

Cyrus and Corina, their faces contorted with uncontrolled power, reacted with destructive force. Bolts of chaotic energy, the wild storm essence of their mother, erupted from their hands, tearing through the water, indiscriminately shattering fragile ecosystems and sending schools of fish scattering in terror. Marin, caught between the escalating madness of her siblings and the encroaching chaos, tried desperately to calm them, her hands outstretched, channeling the gentler currents, but her efforts were swallowed by the overwhelming surge.

Marin, however, fought with a terrifying grace. As one of the Tritons lunged for Annabeth, Marin seemed to melt into the chaotic currents. She used the very shifting waters, the unpredictable surges, to boost her speed and position herself behind them, a blur of motion in the roiling depths. With a predatory glint in her eyes, she struck them, not with a direct blow, but by conjuring a miniature, razor-sharp whirlpool beneath the surprised Triton. The whirlpool expanded rapidly, sucking the Triton into its vortex, dissolving his essence into nothing more than shimmering, golden motes. Marin pulled back, a spray of water arcing off her hands, a chilling sarcastic laugh echoing through the water. "Too slow, barnacle-brains! Did you really think you could catch me in my own element?"

But the fight was a distraction. As the battle raged, the water itself began to scream. A colossal tear appeared in the fabric of the ocean floor, a gaping maw of blackness that pulsed with raw energy. It expanded rapidly, sucking in water, rocks, and screaming sea creatures.

Marin, her eyes wide with horror, lunged for her siblings, trying to pull them away from the vortex's pull. But Cyrus and Corina, still consumed by their own chaotic surges of power, were too far gone, too powerful to control. Marin was too close. The monstrous current from the newly opened abyss latched onto her, merciless and inescapable.

"Marin!" Percy screamed, extending a hand, but he was too far, too slow.

She was dragged backwards, her form dissolving into shimmering light as the abyss consumed her. A final, desperate cry, "Mother...!" escaped her lips before she was gone, swallowed by the void.

The immediate aftermath was silence, broken only by the enraged roar that tore from Cyrus's throat. His eyes, now burning with an incandescent, destructive fury, locked onto Percy and Annabeth. He launched himself forward, a living projectile of grief and accusation.

"You!" Cyrus shrieked, his voice raw with hatred. "This is your fault! Marin is gone because of you! I knew you weren't heroes! You just bring chaos and destruction!" His wild power lashed out, a torrent of uncontrolled water that slammed into Percy, sending him reeling.

Corina, her face pale with shock and grief, managed to regain a sliver of control. She grabbed Cyrus, her voice a strained whisper. "Cyrus, no!" she cried, gripping his arm tightly. "This isn't them! Look at this place! It's Mother's doing! We have to go, before she consumes us all!" But her words were lost in his rage. With a powerful tug, she pulled her brother back, away from Percy and Annabeth, as they vanished into terrifyingly silent depths, Cyrus looked at them with a final, venomous glare that promised a future confrontation.

***Just a quick note before: It's not like actual physical violence, more like…I mean, you can read there’s someone dying (or not) and people fighting***
So, we got to a quick turn of events, kinda like...I don't know how to describe it, weird, I wrote it, but, well, hope you enjoy.
