Episode 4

INT. SPACESHIP - STORAGE ROOM

EARL : So..do you guys know where we’re going?

BENNIE : (licking his fingers) Oh! Our home planet. 

EARL : Your home planet? For what?

FENNECO : For.. (Fenneco pauses for a moment). I am..not sure about that either. ..But we have done this many times in the past.

EARL : And what happened to the past people?

FENNECO : Well—(Fenneco gets cut off by an abrupt stop in the ship.)

A beep can be heard, and then a voice speaking reverberates throughout the ship.

DIANE : “Please do not be alarmed. We have been illuminated that the humans require sustenance. Please, my fellow marked, make your way to the storage area and feed your humans.Thank you.” 

Another beep comes on and the voice stops. The three can hear footsteps approaching the room and they all immediately get up. 

BENNIE : (panicked) W-we should go–!

Fenneco quickly goes to type in the panel to put the box/shelf back into place while Bennie grabs Earl and exits the room. Bennie rushes to his curtain corner and starts to type to close the door. As the door starts to close, Fenneco slips in. 

BENNIE : (Relieved sigh) that was close..

FENNECO : (calm) Yes. Too close. Human, you will stay here for the time being.

EARL : Uh, you do know I have a name, right?

FENNECO : Oh.

BENNIE : Oo! What is it?

EARL : Well—it’s—(cut off by Fenneco)

FENNECO : Do not speak further. (turns to Bennie) We can not afford to get—(cut off by Earl)

EARL : It’s Earl. 

Bennie lights up and nods. He grabs Earl’s wrist and shakes it. 

BENNIE : Nice to meet you! I’m Bennie!

EARL : Uh–Nice to meet you too Bennie!

Earl fixes the handshake and Bennie stares.

BENNIE : Oh, is that how you do it?

EARL : (Chuckles a bit and nods) Yep.

FENNECO : (Sighs) Or just do not listen..

Bennie nods his head over to Fenneco and says to Earl.

BENNIE : And that’s Fenneco! 

Fenneco just presses her ear against the closed door to listen for any other noises. When she stands back up straight she just sighs.

FENNECO : (sighs) Well, in any case, human—(cut off by Earl)

EARL : Earl.

FENNECO : ..yes. Earl. Earl will remain here until further notice. 

EARL : Can’t we just spawn another hole in the floor and get out into the hallway again?

Fenneco turns to face Earl. 

FENNECO : We could. But that still contains a high risk of being seen and caught. We will just wait until it seems all the others have gone back to their own cells. 

BENNIE : Got it! Sooo..Earl—you’re a human..right?

Earl : (sarcastic) No, obviously I’m an alien.

BENNIE : Right! So..can you teach me this? I know it’s a human game—but I’m not sure how to..work it.

Bennie holds up a pack of ‘Isa’ cards. Earl smirks.

EARL : (Arrogant) Sure! But when we start playing..I won’t take it easy..!

BENNIE : (nodding) Okay! Fenneco, wanna join?

Fenneco stares at the cards and at Bennie.

FENNECO : (sighs) alright..only once.

They play Isa, (aka uno) for a while.

EARL : So, basically, (Earl points at a +2 card) this card means the person next to you has to pick up 2 cards. (He takes out and plops down another +2) If you have another one, then like I said before—you can pile it, meaning instead of 2 cards, they gotta pick up 4.

FENNECO : (she holds her chin and nods thoughtfully) I see..so this is sabotage.

BENNIE : That sounds..mean. 

FENNECO : (Nods) I agree. I do not support such a thing. 

EARL : (laughs) Well—it’s just a game..it’s fun!

FENNECO : (she furrows her brow) If you say so, human.

EARL and BENNIE : (correcting her) Earl.

FENNECO : Oh, yes..Well, let's just begin.

(Montage of Fenneco putting down and saying Isa first before anyone else lol)

Suddenly, an alien figure suddenly walks in through the door. Walking in on Bennie miserably picking up his 15th card from the deck, Earl stares at Dan, and Fenneco winning with one card in hand once again. Once Bennie takes his cards, Fenneco lays down her last card and says,

FENNECO : (confident and a lil proud) Isa.

She looks at Earl and Bennie, only to see them staring at the alien.

FENNECO : (sighs, as if she knew something was bound to go wrong.)
