Time seemed to warp and bend around Eva as her newfound power surged through her veins. The rogues, once fearsome and menacing, were now mere statues frozen in the amber of her enhanced perception. Elias, his face contorted in pain, appeared as a figure sculpted from granite, his movements suspended mid-action. The blood that trickled from his wound hung in the air like crimson jewels, defying gravity and the passage of seconds.
A symphony of sensations crashed over Eva, a kaleidoscope of colors and sounds that threatened to overwhelm her. The scent of wet earth and decaying leaves filled her nostrils, amplified to an unbearable intensity. The whispering of the wind became a deafening roar, and the faint tremors in the ground resonated with the force of an earthquake.
It was too much.
She clenched her fists, fighting to maintain control. She focused on Elias, on the pain etched on his face, on the determination that still burned in his eyes. He was her anchor, her reason for enduring this onslaught of power.
With a monumental effort, she forced her mind to quiet, to filter out the extraneous noise and focus on the task at hand. Her vision sharpened, and the world snapped back into a semblance of order. She now had complete control of the powers she had known, and could enhance all of them. The magic from the past began to appear.
The bite. If she could prevent that bite, she could save them both.
Moving with a speed that defied explanation, she lunged towards the rogue who had sunk his teeth into Elias's leg. Her hand closed around his throat, her fingers tightening with a force that threatened to crush his windpipe.
The rogue snarled, his eyes widening in alarm. He clawed at her hand, but her grip was unyielding. She lifted him off the ground, his body dangling in the air, his struggles becoming increasingly frantic.
"I am going to make you feel again," she said, her tone of voice so controlled as if everything had aligned "I show you what pain truly feels like"
A wave of energy radiated from her body, engulfing the rogue in a searing heat. His fur began to smolder, and he howled in agony, his body writhing in her grasp.
She held him there, suspended between life and death, until his struggles ceased and his body went limp. Then, with a flick of her wrist, she sent him hurtling across the cave, his corpse slamming against the far wall with a sickening thud.
The remaining rogues, witnessing the gruesome display, recoiled in terror. Their bravado was gone, replaced by a primal fear that drove them to cower in the shadows.
Eva turned towards them, her eyes glowing with an unnerving intensity. The unleashed power created darkness, but with eyes of a moonlight was everything clear what her path was. Even with what Elias had said as she was nothing but a human, she was not even human or wolf. She was the moon itself. She was the gift created between all.
"Begone," she commanded, her voice resonating with an authority that brooked no argument. "Leave this place and never return. Or face my wrath."
The rogues needed no further encouragement. They scrambled to their feet and fled from the cave, their whimpers echoing in the darkness.
Eva watched them go, her body trembling with the effort of maintaining control. The power coursing through her veins was intoxicating, but she knew it was also dangerous. She needed to rein it in, to master it, before it consumed her entirely.
She stumbled, her vision blurring, and Elias moved to catch her, his face etched with concern.
"Eva, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice laced with worry. "Are you hurt?"
She shook her head, waving away his concern. "I'm fine," she said, her voice breathy. "Just... a little tired."
She leaned against him, drawing strength from his presence. His touch grounded her, reminding her of who she was, of what she was fighting for.
"What was that?" Elias asked, his eyes wide with awe. "I've never seen anything like it. You were... incredible."
Eva managed a weak smile. "I don't know," she said. "It just... happened. I felt this power inside me, this...urge to protect you. And then..."
She trailed off, unable to explain the transformation that had taken place.
"You saved my life," Elias said, his voice filled with gratitude. "I don't know how to thank you."
Eva shook her head turning a little red. "Just... don't get bitten again," she said, managing a playful smile.
Elias chuckled, his arm tightening around her. "I'll try my best," he said. "But you might have to save me again sometime."
As the moment's rest, Eva could feel something, and she said "Is that you are wounded!" and lifted up his leg once again to see.
It was right, the rogues bite had been prevented but transferred and even more increased for her. At least the pain was for her only, but from every wound came something.
That was the moment that he had to come face-to-face, it was not only his blood or strength that made him more of a wolf, it was also what came from this relationship formed together something more powerful.
That was when a memory rushed to her, from the past. There needed to be something strong enough to bind the curse. It was blood.
Without holding back and with the visions she had, she quickly began cutting her wrists causing Elias to yell out.
Elias screamed out in pain with his actions, hugging her quickly even with his own harm and quickly screaming "What are you doing?!?!?"
Now with all this new strength that she had from Aric's gift, it was not all that was hers, she was just a gate. But it needed the magic of someone strong enough to control it all, it was the destiny for both of them for better and for worse.
Their blood intertwined with another, what destiny told was something that would shake mountains and change everyone. She looked at Elias, seeing the confusion, fear and pain. Looking at what made him a wolf and the strength it came from it.
She smiled, caressing him with her tears "You must inherit what is with in me. You will carry it now and together we will learn and save everyone".
Eva gave the strength to Elias that was required and just with a touch and kiss everything was transferred between the two. Now falling the weight of the journey and injuries she said, "Heal, and it's your time to show the world your true self" and drifted into the sleep that was required to do for healing after enduring.
