The warmth of Eva's blood, both a life force and a magical conduit, surged into Elias, igniting every cell in his body. It was unlike anything he had ever experienced. His muscles screamed, his bones cracked and shifted, and his senses exploded in a cacophony of light, sound, and scent. It was as if he were being reborn, reshaped by a power both ancient and terrifyingly new. With Eva in his arms he ran.
The rogue wolves were not the biggest problem to him. As far as he was concerned, there was no point in running. He also recognized he was in a position that was not as weak as Eva had gone through when she had endured powers by an ancestor. No, someone was choosing him for a power. A power that he was not even aware existed. What was he supposed to do next? What would he inherit?
He could focus on her; he focused on his job to focus on what was there.
What was very clear was pain. From both the wounds in his heart and his blood with the bite from one of his kind were getting ready to be transformed and were screaming in pain. Even if Eva saved them from the outside dangers. But now there was no choice.
There had been a moment ago to either run away and accept not protecting and knowing her purpose. Or to hold on to what made a pack such strength and to find the path to what was it truly to make his wolf shine with whatever it came.
From the bite was inherited strength, and for every tear of blood and cut he now had a stronger body to withstand, regenerate and evolve. Now from the blood came the magic and memories from an ancestor. He focused on what should have been the case if this all was not his doing, what could he had focused so that he could find protection but also save her.
From wanting to protect and from the blood he had not known. Came the visions of her past. Flashes of moments she didn't even remember, as if he was creating a memory bank to protect her if there was another future. If the moon could not protect her or shine on her blood again. His strength would.
What was it calling out was not the power it was his instincts, it was just to protect something that was more closer to him that any type of kin. It was love.
Everything was still there. But now it was time to explode what everyone was needing and also hunting to claim such destruction. With Eva in his arms still, but there was something still missing. What was he missing? If he still had to endure?
One of the old traditions was a blessing, in all strength you had to let go of what you were in order to know what to come. Elias already knew.
He found a small puddle and said with as much kindness he could "Thank you for everything what you have been Eva. But now you must sleep. I must explore what the winds call," and rested her near it. In order for everything to work. They would need to rest, and endure what was still needed in order for the change to exist.
With those final words said; like a supernova it exploded. The trees were blown back. A howl was deafening. And now what could never be. Was there. All combined. All together. And if all together was not called "Ascension" there was nothing that could withstand such action.
The transformation was excruciating, every bone contorting, every muscle tearing and reforming. He felt himself growing larger, his body becoming something more than a wolf, more than a man - A being of pure primal power. The cave floor cracked beneath his weight, the very air around him crackled with energy.
When the transformation was complete, he stood as a creature of myth. A towering werewolf, easily ten feet tall, his fur the color of midnight, streaked with silver like the light of the moon. His eyes glowed with an inner fire, and his teeth were long and sharp as daggers. He was an Alpha Ascendant, a werewolf who had transcended the limitations of his bloodline, inheriting power from the past, from the strength obtained with the one who was with.
He raised his head and let out a deafening howl, a challenge to the sky, a declaration of his new existence. The sound echoed through the forest, silencing the birds and sending shivers down the spines of every creature within earshot.
Even with this power and the new emotions he had, Eva was still the priority when he sensed something far away and focused at it.
The rogues. The ones that were still alive were being pushed into somewhere, that new strength was a call to hunt, and they would not accept. They could not accept. It felt like the instincts were speaking, as if the ancestors were screaming into his ears. He now knew.
They weren't just hungry. There was an old and true power. Now whatever was from Eva that was on him called and screamed for its demise, justice. He was being taken to a hunt of someone bad. But it was not only for that. They had something, whatever they were protecting was only creating a bigger threat to what the magic wanted, something that was the moon herself.
His priorities began to strike, finding that power that was a treat and also protecting Eva so that no one got into the range as she claimed herself to be what would make himself the ultimate call towards what someone being a wolf means.
With Eva now as number 2 and ready to leave wherever it could. With a speed that now was part of him, he began.
It took a long moment before he could see all of them around a circle, with something what called to him screaming, it was a person. It was a person who had lost their strength. But whatever ritual they will perform will steal the new gift. They were already almost done, and that only boosted his intentions.
Now it came with a dilemma. Should those intentions, as rageful and chaotic they were, get someone and sacrifice, or save. What would Aric have preferred? When Eva showed the action to protect. This had to be the same as well.
He focused and he went into strike. Using as much speed he could to catch the people who were circling around the sacrifice into the air. And so with all the power that the transformation was calling out everything got a bit intense.
By grabbing all of them that were still alive, there was not as much life now to do what should have not been the case, the deed. The powers now belonged to someone else. It was time and they all knew it.
What was it that made them stick with loyalty and whatever old magic told? The same went for Elias and there was a big explosion with the sacrifice dead into the skies. The cave was blown back, and all that mattered was that power that the earth was now possessing being protected.
Someone began to scream orders, and that was the only confirmation that now they needed to be hunted. This was it.
But more than strike was to scare, Elias still remembered what Eva had told him. That if they were going to get into her way, those who were in peace, she swore that she would just not forgive it. And now the only goal was to pass this for her safety.
Eva deserved this life. And all strength that had been taken onto him was nothing but to protect from these. They now saw the power from what was known to the world as the old legends. It was the call of whatever the first monster has ever existed, with a taste to the strength. The only mission now was to show that for that moment they had no choice but to hide. Everything was now a new page.
They had run away or hidden, and now what was with him screamed to head to Eva. To protect her. All the new power was useless. If there was no Eva she would lose control. And not get what was it to find her.
The strength to protect wasn't his to just find, it was their strength. He needed her. He required her.
