The weight of the room dropped like a stone.
Sumire sat there, silent for a second.
Then she blinked, tossed her phone on the bed, and said:
“Bitch. You crazy.”
Miyako looked up.
“Sumire—”
“No, shut up. You go to sleep, and wake up in another dude’s body every time you fucking sleep, and now your crackhead ass is on some damn destiny rant about how you gotta save somebody before they die a tragic anime death?”
Miyako opened her mouth.
Sumire raised her voice.
“Bitch, get help.”
Silence.
Then—
Miyako started laughing.
Full-on, unhinged, stomach-hurting laughter.
“You’re such a bitch.”
“You’re the one time-traveling into trauma and catching feelings.”
“I’m not catching feelings!”
“You’re about five breakdowns away from main-character syndrome, Miyako.”
Miyako flopped onto the bed, still wheezing.
“Well. Too late now. I’m invested.”
Sumire sighed.
“Jesus. If you start monologuing with wind in your hair, I’m transferring schools.”
Miyako was recovering from laughing when Sumire leaned back on her hands and said, completely deadpan:
“Okay. But let’s say, hypothetically, your dumbass isn’t lying or hallucinating.”
Miyako blinked.
“Uh… okay?”
“If you can eat, taste, and feel pain in that world...”
Sumire paused.
“Then why don’t you start fucking shit up and see what happens?”
Miyako narrowed her eyes.
“Fucking what up?”
“Like, go on enemy turf. Sakuraji territory. Push buttons. Pick a fight. Break the script. If this is some timeline bullshit, let’s poke it with a stick and see what bites.”
Miyako sat up.
“You’re evil.”
“I’m bored.”
Sumire tilted her head.
“Also curious. What if everything you do in that dream has a real consequence? What if you can rewrite the whole thing?”
Miyako bit her lip, thinking.
Then—
“Wait…”
Sumire’s eyes lit up, smirk curling.
“...what if I can dream like that too?”
Miyako stared.
“Girl, this is not a co-op game.”
“Says who? Maybe it’s not just you. What if the universe got lazy and threw both of us in?”
“You’re insane.”
“And you’re the one body-jumping into a dead gang leader.”
Miyako flopped back on the bed.
“If you dream about Kaito’s world too, I’m going to cry.”
“If I show up in that dream, I’m punching you first just to test if I’m real.”
“Sumire, I swear to god—”
