The surgery began and I was under anesthesia. I was brought to the operation theatre and Dr. Alcott explained all that would happen during the surgery. A team of six doctors would operate on me and given that my case was of an STI, they were taking great care and precaution to ensure the scabs were properly removed as the nipple area was a very sensitive place.
Kay waited outside the whole surgery while the surgeons took around five hours to remove the nasty red scabs off my nipples. Once the surgery was completed, I was woken up. Dr. Alcott told me that I would have to strictly follow complete bed rest and no cough cough freaky sexual activity of the affected parts. Kay snickered behind his palm and I glared at him from the bed. Once Dr. Alcott left the room, I was left alone with Kay who was smiling smugly. I swatted at his arm. He laughed sending an excited shiver down my spine.
“How you feeling?” He grinned mischievously. He was teasing me. I averted my gaze, staring at the hospital corridor through the open blinds. “All because of that douchebag Ray. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Poor Ruella cannot engage in any nipple play with her sexy lover, Kay.” He looked at the ceiling, opening his palms as if he was having a conversation with God.
Ha! I snorted, rolling my eyes.
“Weren’t you the one who was yearning to touch my breasts, my nipples and cup them in your hands?” I gave him a lopsided grin. “I know how your eyes would glint with lust, watching my nipples perk up.” I was watching him carefully. I was brought back to the memory of his iris glowing when he was making love to me.
Kay bent low to my ear whispering words that made me cum. “The moment you’re well Ruella mark my words... I will take my time to worship you, ride you and when you beg me for a release I won’t give it to you.”
My face became hot. But I kept my stare. “We shall see that.” I smiled cunningly.
“Don’t tempt me, my love. If you play hard to get, I’ve many more ways to entrap you in the pleasure you seek.”
I looked away, unable to keep his stare.
He chuckled. “That’s what I like... seeing you blush when I make you wet with desire.” He traced his pointer down the side of my face to my cheekbones and jaw. I closed my eyes, breathing hard. “I want you to scream my name to heaven and back. I will make sure of it.” And with that, he left the room, leaving me alone with my own thoughts.
A few days later, I was started with chemotherapy. Kay was there with me the whole time. He would excuse himself by waiting outside busy talking to someone on the phone. As he spoke in hushed whispers I could feel that his eyes were always on me, an impassive mask of emotions behind them.
I would be awake and then asleep because of medication I was receiving. My surroundings became blurry and I would feel sleepy all the time. Nurses were huddled around when my skin was itching and having trouble breathing.
I would hear them talking in my sleep about changing my medication. Apparently, I had developed some kind of allergy. When the medication changed, I was feeling sweaty and developed rashes everywhere. To add to that I also started feeling dizzy by just lying down in my bed. I was crying describing the cancer side-effects to the nurses.
The medication changed again and I was given anesthesia because I became dehydrated.
The side-effects became scarier and I had just given up. There were around five side effects and the sounds, the drip of the IV was getting to my head. I just wanted it all to end. I was tired of living, fighting through the treatment. I was crying, begging to God to make it stop.
I had no idea what happening around me as I got in and out of consciousness. I was too afraid of seeing the doctors and nurses run around in a frenzy, so I willed my mind to drift inside a void. It was just me and the void. Nothing else mattered.
When I opened my eyes, I saw myself floating in the air. There was a single source of soft downlight falling on me. Wherever I walked, the focus followed me. I checked my body and saw that I was in the hospital gown with only the IV tube latched onto my chest. I breathed deeply and the focus light engulfed me in a white blinding light.
The scene around me changed and I looked around shock to see that I was standing in my childhood home. My parents were sitting at the table with me. We were having lunch. My mother was smiling at me, urging me to have more food. My father had just finished with his lunch, and he picked up his plate and took it to the sink, washing it...
“We’re going to the movie theatre this evening, right?” I asked my father twirling spaghetti in my fork. I brought it up to my mouth and chewed on it, looking between them.
“Oh yes, honey! Why wouldn’t we!” Father said from his place at the sink. “It’s been a long time we’ve actually been to a theatre.”
The scene changed for the last time and now I running barefoot on a railway track. There were eight tracks running parallel to mine and the sun was about to rise from the horizon. There was a torn down wall about thirty feet away from me and next to that was an abandoned factory. I couldn’t see where my foot landed as I winced it pain. The stones were digging into my soles and I felt blood pool underneath my feet. I kept running, my body shimmering with sweat. My hospital gown was drenched in it and I wondered how long was I running. I couldn’t see any oncoming station that I could alight on and stop to breathe. Then suddenly behind me, a bright yellow light shown. I sighed with relief praying to God for my savior. “Hey, do you have some water–”
But it wasn’t my savior but a goods train approaching with ferocity. Its horn blared at me as its wheels created loud rhythmic noises on the tracks. I turned around, horrified. I stumbled forward and fell to the ground. My hands fell on the reverberating train track, warning me of my impending doom. A second horn blared, snapping me from my trance and I stood up from my shaking limbs.
I quickly jumped to the neighboring track before the train behind me ran over me. My scream was lost in my throat as I felt the engine ram over me. The bogies followed suit the next second– their weight crushing speed pushing the air out of my body. I felt my head hit hard on the uneven rocks. The wheels were creating the routine clanking and clashing noise next to my ears.
“Hurry, we are losing her!” I shot out of the bed, screaming on top of my lungs like a mad woman. The doctor who had a defibrillator jumped away at my sudden outburst. I stared at all of them in horror, wondering why were they looking at me like this. To my left, the ECG machine was beeping normally.
The doctors started looking at each other in shock. One by one they left the room. Outside, Dr. Alcott who I didn’t see in the room was speaking to Kay. Kay was furious at him, pointing fingers at him. A security guard was holding him back from lashing at Dr. Alcott. Kay then met my eyes and I stared at him. My heart was hammering in my chest–What just happened?
