July 2025 shall officially be 10 years since the first poem of "My Book of Poetry" was published on Wattpad. Today begins a new debut, a revival to this book, to give it a new home (as I seldom used the previous site).
But first, an Introduction to me.
I go by Void Android (Void for short) in many of my social circles and I dabble in as many creative outlets as I can try to manage. I make art, music, videos, designs of all forms and when I sit and let my mind wander, I also write my thoughts.. mainly in the form of poetry.
From young, whilst learning to read, write and speak English, I was taught to always break a word down by its syllables and to learn it's definition. This extends one's knowledge and vocabulary, and can prove useful in regular conversation amongst peers and more professional settings should the need arise. An enjoyable task, as many words can be used for the same item of topic, making statements less blunt, depending on the situation. A way to bring bad news in a lighter tone to soften the painful impact, show frustration without the need to curse or speak in foul tongue, or even to lay subtely in a joke or insult without intentional rudeness.
What inspired me and this poetry book I wrote, were following in the steps of calypsonians of old, who sang their social commentary of the world, touching on topics that an ordinary man dare not tread. It became my way to talk about how i felt, and the random ideas I had in my head, which i could put to paper.. in this case a screen to type it.
To tell it like it is, show the absurdity of the matter and cry out for a difference. My cadence for the decline of morality.. fairness falling upon the deaf ears or the signs to the shrouded eyes as the problem is to those as a cent may be to a millionaire. A decadence even; the greed for a "sweet, delectable taste" of the great, even if you have to hurt or kill for it.
I would like to add by pointing out that, with the book being written 10 years ago, (and me being at the age of 14 - you know.. teenagers, school, going through stuff..) It came with some.. rather heavy topics being spoken about, and they are some lines that were miswritten and others that were deemed "cringey" as a now 24 year old re-reading them. As such, I have taken the liberty to change a few of those lines, without taking the initial message away. I hold no shame in what was written (especially as my vocabulary has much since improved over the decade), but i will update those chapters to suit.
