Chapter 11
This adventure into Marshlake wasn’t the most adventurous, but it was still one of the best places to be. Samuel had loved it, and now he was part of it entirely. Samuel couldn’t imagine his life without this place, he was so glad he ran away from camp.
Sylvan had made sure nobody had followed them, and had brought Eric, Charles, and Carlene. After their recent visit to the counsel Samuel had a feeling they would be talking again really soon, but that was another day. The portal was exactly how they left it, and the statues were still standing.
Sylvan patted Samuel on the back, “Well, guess this is goodbye.”
Samuel smiled, “For now.” Samuel hugged Sylvan, and so did Jackson.
“We’ll miss you, all of you.” Jackson said.
“We know.” Sylvan said,
They all started hugging each other, and Mohan appeared next to them. “Now I know I'm new to this little group, but I was wondering if…” Sylvan pulled him into the now full group hug.
When they let go Samuel, Jackson, and Mohan all walked to the portal.
“Hey Sam,” Eric yelled, “Don’t break the world until we’re back ok?”
Samuel laughed, then nodded. “Cross my heart.”
Waved goodbye, and stepped backward into the portal.
Once again he woke up in the space-tube, and saw the hand pulling Samuel.
‘Again?’ Samuel thought,
This time he was fully pulled into the void, and he woke up in a hall of sorts. With multiple people in thrones around him.
“Ok, what do you guys want?” Samuel asked just wanting to go home,
“We want to warn you.” Samuel focused more on the people he wasn’t able to look at them fully.
“About what?” Samuel asked,
“We are the gods of the multiverse, and your friend Jackson Liberta. He has been chosen.” The one glowing green said.
Samuel looked at him, “For what?”
“A war is coming,” One of the people said, they glowed red and he could feel power coming from him.
“What war?” Samuel asked,
The one glowing green looked at Samuel, “A war is coming, the controllers have declared war on all things of past magic. Including us.”
“And who are you?”
“The gods.” When the glowing green person spoke, Samuel heard rumbling.
“Good to know, so what is happening with Jackson?” Samuel asked.
“He has been chosen to stop the war between the gods and the controllers, Soro has been chosen to lead this war. His army will destroy not just the controllers, but all of Marshlake unless he stops it.” The glowing green one said, “You must not tell this to anyone, not even Jackson. When the time comes, you will help train him. Understood?”
Samuel nodded, but before he could ask anything else he was back at camp.
“Sam? You really like staying asleep after going through a portal.” Jackson said to him,
“Ya, sleeping.” Samuel grabbed his bags, and ran to the entrance of the camp.
Once again they had to get past the counselors, and got to the front of the camp. When they did they found Jackson’s parents. Samuel stayed with him a little longer than normal, but he left as soon as he was told to. When he got to the front of the camp he found Mr. Operio and got into the car with him.
“So how was camp?” Mr. Operio asked,
Samuel smiled, “Better than ever before.”
