OUTSIDE - Planet Cutost

Mexico looks alarmed.

CANDY : (A little shaken) “But..it’s too early!”

FENNECO : (Cutting in) “I’m sorry to pry, but what has awakened?”

CANDY : (Hesitant) “W-well..”

Candy looks to Mexico for affirmation, and Mexico sighs and softly nods.

MEXICO : (Sighs) “Yes..we shouldn’t hide it from them..come with me.”

Mexico leads them towards a tree and he starts walking on the bark upwards. The others are baffled and don’t know what to do. Mexico looks back towards them.

MEXICO : (he laughs) “Whoops! You can take the pegs that we made for the children.”

Mexico points towards the pegs protruding from the tree and Candy goes and jumps on each one, going upwards. Fenneco easily mimics Candy. Dan immediately stares down Bennie with pleading eyes.

BENNIE : (Sighs) “I guess you can leave the armour here..”

DAN : (Relieved and says this quickly) “Oh thank goodness.”

Dan quickly shrugs off the armour and follows Bennie up the pegs. They all follow Mexico, and he calmly steps on a big branch, and he points out a big looking hill thing.

MEXICO : “You see over there?” (Pause) “..That’s this planet's monster. Every year, it wakes up, and it gobbles at least 5 of us whole.” (Say this part darkly.)

BENNIE : (Gasp) “Oh no!”

MEXICO : “Well—we’ve been able to keep it at bay by growing’ some food and feeding the thing, but this time..it’s woken up early.” (Sighs and shakes his head) “I’m afraid it ain’t time for the crops to get harvested. We..may have to take the fall.” (Say the last part sadly)

They all sit in sad silence. But then Candy cuts in.

CANDY : “Uh, Mexico? Did you already send out somebody?”

Everybody snaps out of it and looks closely at what Candy is looking at.

MEXICO : “Uh. No?”

BENNIE : (Proud and excited) “I can check! I made human-looking glasses just for this!”

Bennie taps a button on his glasses and zooms in, but his smile immediately vanishes.

BENNIE : “Uhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.”

DAN : (Curious) “Huh? What?”

FENNECO : (Has a sneaking suspicion) “No..”

BENNIE : (Trying to be positive) “Uh, at least I’ve found Earl?”

FENNECO : (Sighs)

DAN : “WHAT.”
