'We have sufficient information for now, but I would also like to know her [Ability]. Her tier doesn't matter if she has a god-tier [Ability].'
I didn't want to go out to see what the wolves looked like. I did want to identify them, but not when it's still dark out.
'Do we have a curfew now? Did we have one before the werewolves came? Well, if we didn't, we certainly do now. Ain't no telling what they will do to us if we did something that they didn't like.'
I looked at Michelle sleeping peacefully, and I couldn't help but sigh at our situation again.
'I don't want to be here, and I know she doesn't either. We have to go look at Mom's workplace to see if she is alive. All we need is a clue or a hint.'
I lay my head back down and put my head on the pile of clothes I gathered to have a make-shift pillow.
Before I fully dozed off again, I thought about the other reason I didn't want to stay here.
'What's that front door man's name? Jack? Yeah, I don't trust him about as far as I can throw him. Then we have Kara's brother, Matt, who's a cute kid and looks like he could be harmless. And if I had learnt anything from anime, it is that looks can be deceiving. I could be wrong about all of this, but I'm not taking my chances.'
I dozed off to sleep thinking about what I had to do to get myself and my family out of this mall.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Early in the morning, everyone went to the cafeteria to get their breakfast.
'We don't have to worry so much about food now that the wolves are supposed to be taking care of us. I guess that's the good side to all of this.'
When we arrived at the cafeteria, we saw wolves watching us. They were all aligned along the walls.
I got in the lunch line, followed by my family, grabbing trays so we could get our food. I then heard Michelle talk behind me while I was grabbing my bread.
"Here comes some more. They got the rest of them."
I turned to see what she was talking about. She was right. The wolves were gathering the rest of us up and bringing us here.
'Like we are a herd of sheep.'
I even saw a few wolves dragging some of the people from our group. A part of the people who were getting dragged here were Kara and Matt.
I kept going down the lunch line when I heard Kara yelling.
"We were going to come with you! All you had to do was give us some time! Let us go! We can walk by ourselves!"
The wolf dropped her and her brother right on the cafeteria floor and walked away.
She got up off the floor and helped her brother up. She checked for any injuries on him and guided him to the line to get breakfast.
When they got in line, we got out. We chose the table that was best for us and started eating as quickly as possible.
Around 2 minutes into our breakfast, he heard steps coming towards and stopping at our table.
It was Kara and Matt.
"Can we sit with you guys? I don't really know anyone here except for you guys."
I looked at everyone around the table. Casey and Kara gently smiled at her and waved at her to join. I looked at Michelle, but she just glared at me. She was pretty much giving me the 'don't say or do anything wrong look'.
I gave her a slight nod to let her know that I won't do anything. After Kara led her brother to a seat and sat across from him, everyone continued eating.
There was silence throughout the entire cafeteria. Of course, there were a few mummers here and there, but everyone knew about the new problem in front of us, literally.
I was on my last bite of mashed potatoes when Kara spoke up.
"Is this our life now?"
Nobody spoke up to answer her. I couldn't see her because I kept my head down, but I knew it was her silverware I heard clattering on the table.
"I'd rather have my chances outside. But with my brother, it's safer here. We don't have to worry about food or worry about a roof over our heads. Even though we still have monsters surrounding us, we don't have to worry so much about these ones eating us."
This time, I looked up at her.
'She's not completely wrong. It's just later on in the future, is it going to stay the same? We still don't know why they didn't kill us. We are pretty much a burden to them, unless they need humans for something. But what would they need us for? They are treating us….too good? I don't know, I'll just try to figure out what's going on later.'
"If you'd rather stay here, then no one's stopping you. Can't really leave anytime soon anyway."
Kara nodded at what I said and got up with her empty tray.
"We are done, so we are just gonna head back. I'll talk to you guys soon."
Kara took Matt's hand, dropped her tray off at the station, and left back to her 'room'.
Once everyone was done, we headed back to continue our training.
"You know she isn't wrong, right?"
Kayla said this to everyone before we started to train our [Abilities].
"We know, hun, but do you want to stay here? We still don't know what they want from us, sweet pea."
Casey was worried that her daughter would think the same as Kara. But Kara shook her head.
"No, I don't trust the wolves outside. Where did they even come from? Were they hiding the whole time and waiting for the right moment? And what about those zombies, slimes, and plants?"
Michelle patted her shoulder.
"No one knows. There is no reason to think so hard about it anyway, but I do know a way that will take off some of the load."
"When you say that, do you mean…?"
"Training? Yes."
