The Mystery of the Drama Club

Episode 12

Episode 12

Jul 09, 2025

That day he walked into the club room and when I saw him I smiled at him slightly.

"Hi Ken..." I said.

"Hi Rina..." he said, smiling.

Silence...

"Oh...!" we said at the same time.

Then we looked at each other and a light laugh escaped our lips.

"You go first," I said.

"No, you go first..." he said.

"I just wanted to say that your sword moves the other day were really cool. Have you been practicing? It's like you have experience."

"My dad likes swords... and we used to practice with him when I was little," he replied calmly.

"That was a scene from a manga, right?" I asked.

"Yeah..."

Silence.

"What do you usually read?" he asked.

"Books."

"What genre?"

"Action."

"Do you like action?"

"I do..."

Silence.

"How about you? Do you like romance?" I asked.

"I do..."

Silence.

"What is this manga you're reading about, anyway?" I asked.

"It's a historical romance with some action scenes," he replied.

Our conversation was calm, our voices too. There was no awkwardness in it.

Even though our conversation might seem a little dry to some, it was comfortable and natural to us.

"Why did you decide to join the drama club?" I asked.

He looked at me with a somewhat thoughtful expression.

"I have a hard time expressing my feelings. A lot of people tell me that I'm a little stiff when it comes to emotions. Sometimes I'm afraid to express them... And I thought acting would help me."

"I see... But I really don't think you're that stiff."

"Really?"

"Yeah... although maybe I think that because we're similar in some ways... sometimes people call me weird... although... I think each of us is unique and weird in some way, right? I don't think there is a person who is normal in the full sense of the word... the ones we think are normal we just don't know them well enough... we all have some little quirks don't we?... Oh, I'm sorry, I'm probably talking too much…"

"No, no, I love listening to you! And I think you're right... But... I don't think you're weird."

"Geez... out of everything I said, that's all you got?" I laughed.

"No... I understand what you're saying. But honestly... You know... I watched you practice scenes all this time, but never said anything. You're really cool, not weird..."

"Hahaha, is that your way of complimenting me?"
