Not long after, he became drowsy and approached the Boro, gently placing himself against its large body. Making himself comfortable, he leaned his head to the side, indulging in the warm embrace of his furry friend. Although it seemed kinda odd at the time, Athan understood that, even thought they were very different in shape and form, their nature wasn't as distant as one would think. Yes indeed, one was a being who sought solace in the blanket of the wild, while the other had lived its whole life under its guise, surviving and thriving off its merits.
One wild, one civilised. Different shell, same origin.
They were both children of God and they were both included in the vastness and benevolence of his kingdom. Just as all the rivers converge and meet in the ocean, they too were united under the same sky.
Athan took a look through his memories and thought back at the pond in his birthplace. It was calm and stable, perfectly still and pure, reflecting all the brilliance of the world right back at its face. His gaze then fell on the river that was flowing next to them. It was spontaneous and unpredictable, constantly shifting and adulterated, indomitably making its way to the far beyond.
It was the same for them.
He was the pond and it was the river.
In the quiet solitude of the wild, sitting next to his companion, engulfed in its covering shadow, Athan’s eyes gradually came to a close and soon enough, he fell into a light and relaxing slumber.
The aftertaste of the berries was still lingering in his mouth and it brought along a sweet and calming sensation that further enhanced his sleeping quality, making him dream of a giant red orb that radiated pure delight. From its top, emanated a fountain of vermilion juice which gradually descended down the round shape, meeting the bottom of the floor which was architectured in such way, that it was able to never be filled to brim.
Athan bathed himself in the pool of red deliciousness, when suddenly, he spotted an odd appearance in the horizon: a lonely white rock that had a black box on top of it. Curiously, he approached the strange object and took a look inside to see the contents of the box: a singular pale berry. Apart from its bland color scheme, it didn't show much difference to the normal red ones he had found, so without giving it much thought -when will he ever learn?-, he slowly brought it to his mouth and ingested it. It’s flavor was rather bitter and it gave Athan a hard time trying to swallow it.
But alas! The very moment the berry reached his stomach, it brought upon the dreamer an immeasurable amount of pain, making him fall to his knees, grabbing his stomach and letting out sounds of anguish and terror. However, the pain he felt in this micro instance was merely a prelude of the true horror that was about to follow…
