Layla's eyes widened as their attack slowed only to concentrate on her face. She held up her arms in an attempt to shield her mask but the onslaught of their attack turned out to be too much. It came in faster and harder than before, quickly cutting up her forearms and causing them to be pushed away.
The hard plastic of the mask was shattered causing her face to be cut up by not only the wind but also the shards as they flew away. She removed the now useless mask and brushed stray pieces from her face before opening her eyes. Around her the wall of fog had been still up to this point but that didn't mean anything. Layla tried to stand up to get away before they started up with the whirlpool again.
"I...don't die so..e...easy." Layla panted.
Her determined words were futile though as the air around her began to move. She struggled to stand up but found herself stopping as the air around her quickly got hard to breath.
Layla grabbed her neck. 'Shit'
She looked around as it sped up faster and faster, somehow making the oxygen around her disappear. The figures the brown feline had been fighting against were back in formation and because of their current attack it revealed more of the area, including them.
"R-robes?" Layla huffed through labored breaths.
Her confusion was short lived as her self preservation took over, Layla tried to lift her gun with one hand but fumbled and dropped it. She cursed inwardly and took a handgun from the holster on her belt. Her vision was getting blurry the longer she went in this whirlpool. She shook her head and with both hands aimed the gun.
Huff...
Huff...
There was a muffle clang as it fell from her hands and onto the grass, followed closely by Layla herself. She fell forward, her determination turning to fear as she watched the figures approach her. No longer were they sending those weird air attacks, but that didn't mean they stopped for good. One of them reached up and removed the hood they were wearing. However it was difficult to make out what anima they were as it was quickly becoming fuzzy.
'Hopefully...' Layla thought, allowing her eyes to close. 'The others made it out.'
Silence.
Krrrr...BOOM!
"AGH!"
The air swayed and shifted as it felt like there was a disturbance, the ones controlling the fog lost their focus it seemed.
"Stop! Traitor!"
Layla opened her eyes in surprise at the sudden noise and saw a wall of stone not far from her body. A familiar figure in uniform right behind it, almost like he had created it. The figure smelled of blood and was breathing heavily.
"Don't worry Layla." he said, turning and kneeling down in front of her. "I won't let them hurt you anymore."
Layla wanted to respond but found herself slipping, the last thing she was conscious of was the worried mutters of her savior and being lifted up. Leaving her to fade into nothingness as he carried her away.
