Shattered Path

History of the Authority

History of the Authority

Jul 18, 2025

Authority. A mysterious entity that has the power to control everything in the entire universe. Authority is the rule. Authority is law. Authority is everything. 5000 years ago, when the Abyss began attacking humanity, no weapon could stop them, so the Authority transferred its entire consciousness into someone called 'Arbiter'.

Over the next few years, the Arbiter guided humanity to rebuild their civilization, and he also established an organization called the "Nexus Archive" and established the Nexus Archive base in a secret location. The Nexus Archives stored all the information about the ancient civilization, data about the Abyss, and also created weapons to fight the Abyss.

Arbiter also exists; he channels all his power to the earth and creates Mana. Humans also get mystical powers when "Awakeners" are born. The Arbiter has also saved several legends who were almost killed by the Abyss, one of whom is Wukong. The Arbiter is also the one who gave birth to the Elders and the six Paths. Creation, Destruction, Shadow, Harmony, Order, and Life. As well as Elders named Tian Yi, Izanagi, Shikkoku, Aquilla, Orrakos, and Masuri.

"Wait, wait, wait. Is this history class right now? Aren't we supposed to be on a mission?"

Tetsuya grumbled to Yara, then cut by her.

"Shut up. I'm not done yet, where am I again...? Oh yeah, then the Arbiter took Itaris as his successor and was called the Elder of Authority before the Arbiter disappeared. And that is the history of Authority. For now."

Tetsuya looked clearly uninterested. He crossed his arms behind his head and leaned against the wall.

"Are you done?"

"... Yes."

Meanwhile, Katsuragi saw some strange people near the old warehouse. And he saw the same symbol of The Veil used by Yara when they fought before.

"Oh? The Veil has started to cause trouble?"

He smiled and then immediately sneaked in to ambush. The members of The Veil entered the warehouse, and some were guarding, and some were moving goods. One of them was carrying a small box until...

THUMP!

Katsuragi slammed him to the floor and then back into the shadows. The sound of the impact caused several guards to be alert.

"What happened?"

"I don't know, check on him. Make sure he's still alive."

One of the guards tried to wake the unconscious member, but another one was kicked by Katsuragi and he disappeared again.

"What the-?! Warning! There is an intruder!"

Several guards then prepared their weapons and turned on their flashlights.

"Use night vision goggles now!"

"Yes sir-"

Before one of them could try to use the night vision goggles, he was hit by Katsuragi from above.

WHAM!

Katsuragi stood up and walked towards them stretching his arms, showing his shadow gauntlets. Then took out the Soulsreaper Scythe.

"Open fire!"

BANG! BANG!

Shots were fired at Katsuragi, only for him to dodge all the bullets. He swung his scythe and cut off their weapons.

SHHNK!

Katsuragi continued to dodge their bullets and split their weapons, knocking them down one by one. Some of them escaped, and one of them sent a signal for help, to someone.

"Calling someone?"

Katsuragi appeared behind the person, smiling evilly.

"What's your name?"

"D-Dacian Vlaric. What do you want?!"

Katsuragi pulled Dacian's collar and tied him with a rope nearby.

"What the-?! Let me go!"

"Pfft, if only you help me."

Dacian tried to free himself from the bonds, but it was in vain because Katsuragi tied him up really tightly.

"You're one of The Veil's subordinates, right? I want you to give me information on what they'll do in the future."

Dacian smirks.

"Why should I help you?"

Without him realizing it, Katsuragi flicked his forehead and smiled.

"Since when did I ask for help..? Just do what I want, if you don't want to get fired and want to live."

Katsuragi's eyes glowed, as he held the Soulsreaper Scythe with such an evil gaze.

"And... if you don't want your soul trapped in this scythe. Speak now."

Realizing that he was at a disadvantage, Dacian exhaled and said,

"One of the End Bringers, Tetsuya Ren. The one who led us here will open a large portal and cause the Abyss Outbreak within three days from now."

"Tetsuya Ren.. where did I hear his name before...?"

Dacian was still trying to escape, Katsuragi realized, and could only sigh. He then placed some of his forces on Dacian.

"There. With a little bit of my strength, if you try to betray me... your body will feel hot, like... burning. Yes, like you get burned."

"W-What?! Why did you do that?!"

Katsuragi replied sarcastically. "I don't know, maybe because I'm evil? Heh, because otherwise you'll definitely tell them that I threatened you, right?"

After a few seconds, Dacian drove The Veil's vehicle, while his whole body felt like it was on fire because earlier he had tried to tell others about Katsuragi. Meanwhile, elsewhere, Katsuragi gets a key from Dacian. The shape of the key looks a little strange because its head has two pairs of wings and is metallic silver in color.

"What key is this? Wait a minute, why exactly did they give this key to a subordinate like Dacian?"

Katsuragi returned to his apartment and took a picture of the key, then sent it to Doctor Nikolai Valtsev, who is now in Valenbourg. Doctor Nikolai got the picture and immediately called Katsuragi.

"Katsuragi, I got a picture of the key. And, I have a question about how you got the key. But first, the key is the key to the Vampire Realm."

Hearing this, Katsuragi was a little confused.

"Vampire Realm huh? Aren't they just fairy tales?"

"Not really. Several thousand years ago they were banished to the Vampire Realm on charges of colluding with the Abyss and because they also needed human blood."

Katsuragi heard this and became wary. Because the story sounds like it was made up to cover up the truth.

"But that was over thousands of years ago. I think they've evolved and no longer need human blood."

"Hm, there's some truth to that. According to research, the activity of those who have left the Vampire Realm has decreased to zero. It's possible they found a new food source there."

This made Katsuragi think for a long time, and finally, he smiled.

"After I take care of other things in Shanzhou, I'll go there."

Doctor Nikolai was a little surprised and laughed a little.

"Katsuragi, you could die if you go there. If they see you, they'll think we're trying to break in."

"Then, I'll silence them. Until they believe that I'm not like those stupid Valenbourgs from before."
