Never Trust A Shadow After Dark

Wed to a stranger

Wed to a stranger

Aug 10, 2025

Lisa felt like her soul had been transported back in time to the day she died.

The loud agonizing wails of the dying and persecuted echoed in her mind.

She rolled over on the Shadowhurst's plush mattress covering her eardrums when her eyes suddenly fluttered open.

Thankfully Lisa was back at the boutique hotel but this wasn't her room.

How she had gotten inside this new room without a swipe card was a mystery.

She winced at the sunlight shining through the curtains as Lisa groggily sat up in bed.

Lisa's work dress was torn and in disarray and the swipe card for her room was still nestled between her breasts but her lace panty was missing.

The beams from the sun just acted like a spotlight on her growing sense of unease.

Biting her bottom lip, Lisa tried to make sense of her current predicament.

The last thing she remembered was going to the afterparty with Chandra.

Her dress had dried vomit, her stomach felt queasy and bits of memory slowly trickled in.

She remembered drinking numerous shots, when Lisa normally never drank heavily while on the job.

What caused her to spiral into a crazy binge?

Then she vaguely remembered Tristan showing her how to use a bong and smoking different blends.

Lisa looked to her left and her eyes spied a polaroid instant photo with a cheesy checkered cardboard frame.

The photo looked distortedly playful just as if she deliberately covered the groom's face with a tacky looking flower bouquet just as the photographer was taking the photo.

Lisa let out a breath she wasn't even aware she had been holding.

As she studied the polaroid at different angles for more clues but the longer she looked the more puzzled she felt.

She rubbed the matter out of her eye that's when Lisa first laid eyes on it.

Lisa rubbed her eyes again before scrutinizing the plain silver band on her hand in disbelief.

Something white fell out from behind the picture frame distracting her eyes from the ring.

Her head felt like it was going to explode as she read the words written on the small sheet of thin white paper.

It was a marriage license and it looked real enough.

Everything was starting to come together: the ring, the photo and her state of undress.

The name on the marriage license she didn't recognize, who the hell is Banislav Ivanovic Herstse?

Lisa had gone and utterly made a complete fool of herself by waking up wed to a stranger.

She vaguely remembered leaving the afterparty with a stranger after overindulging with booze and drugs.

Her underwear was missing but there was no blood on her dress.

Her vagina did not feel sore, surely she did not lose her virginity to a stranger and worse…gone and married him.

Majority of her life she had been a good little French girl, following tradition and saving herself for the wedding night.

All it took was one night of a lapse in judgement; she wasn't even sure if she had unprotected sex.

She could get pregnant or worse get some fatal disease.

Had she broken her promise to her mother Millicent?

In her mind the humiliation and despair she now felt could not get much worse.

Until she started to feel depressed.

It seems she was still affected by Lisa Belmont's mother's recent death.

Those feelings that she tried to bury resurfaced.

The door slowly opened and Lisa looked around the room frantically for something to protect herself with in case the stranger was coming to claim his marital rights.

Nevermind that she sported a crazy bedhead hairstyle, with her make up askew, her dress dirty and torn, somehow Lisa still managed to look stunning in her husband's eyes.

Even with the dangerous look in her eyes like she wanted to kill him and bouncy breasts heaving.

As the thin dress did not do much to conceal what the creator blessed her with.

Normally he was a patient man but even his mental fortitude was now being pushed to the limits in this current situation.

Lisa screeched, "what are you doing here?"

"This just happens to be my room and you've been sleeping in my bed."

She needed to get out of the room.

He was the last person she wanted to see right now.

Her pride had her getting off the bed but her feet had a mind of their own.

She stumbled and sat back down on the bed.

After a night of drugs and booze Lisa's body felt dehydrated and wasn't functioning as it should.

She needed more rest but Lisa would rather do that in the comfort of her own bed.

So she tried getting up again but her legs buckled and Lisa felt herself falling.

Before she could hit the floor two strong arms reached out to assist her back onto the bed.

His touch felt repulsive, she pushed him off with her hands trying to create space and not caring if things were awkward between them.

He was the only obstacle blocking her path and standing in the way between her and the door.

A giant of an obstacle at six foot plus he towered over her small frame.

He was well built and broad shouldered in a powerful, leanness that showed in the muscles of his chest, abdomen, shoulders and arms that were similar to the sleekness of a panther.

It didn't hurt that he was classically handsome too, with a blade-straight nose and high cheekbones.

So what if Lisa had married this man and it didn't matter how long she'd been staring, nothing was ever going to change between them.

"Well, I can remedy that," she snarled, "move out of my way, you are blocking the exit."

"Lisa, listen to me please. I know right now you are feeling overwhelmed and confused but everything happens for a reason. I am just as shocked and overwhelmed about the situation but as long as we are both being reasonable we can get through this together."

"No way in hell can you be so calm. You planned this! I'm not staying another second in this room with you. I'm going to get out of this room and figure out how to get this marriage annulled."

"Then I'm afraid I can't allow you to leave."
