Read Dreaming of Mermaids :: Episode 3

When my feet finally hit the sand I almost ran right into the water. My parents quickly stopped me and said we had to go together. The ocean was huge. I knew that because how could a whole bunch of mermaids live there if it was only a small spot. My parents were beside me as we got set up. We laid the towel down while my dad got the umbrella set up.

After some time we went inside the ocean. Well, only the shallow part. My parents said it would be safer for me to be there. I decided to look for seashells. There was a pink and white shell that I spotted first. “Wow. So pretty.” My mother told me from behind. It sure was. I grabbed it and a few more and walked over to the towel to sit under the shade. “We can build a sandcastle later if you want?” My dad said to me, “Yeah! I would love that!” It was just weird. I haven't seen a mermaid yet. Maybe they were hiding. I hope not. I laid back on the towel and closed my eyes.
